Wall washers/Floods

Hey all... Last year i used 8 flood kits by holiday coro but my issue with these were that they really got washed out when all the lights were on..... Are there any you all recommend that are very bright??

What do you mean by washed out?

You cannot see the color on the house. IT is washed out by all the other light in the yard

have the same issue with 8 of those floods.  Floods do NOT put out enough light to overcome other lights.  Seasonal Entertainment has some 40 watt floods that may help (also at a higher prices as you would expect), in the $140 range if I remember correctly.  LOR also has the higher power floods.
In my case the smaller floods would not light up your hand 6" away do the the ambient light.  When all was DARK the worked fine.
I ended up using dumb led strips with 144 led's per meter (VERY BRIGHT) for wall washes.

Just remember the inverse square law which applies to light, audio, rf, etc.

Double the distance = 1/4 the power.
Decrease the distance by 1/2 for 4X the power.

Likewise, a 20 watt light is not 2x brighter than a 10 watt light.  A 40 watt light is (should be) 2x brighter than a 10 watt light.

I abandoned my floods as wall washers and use them now as Spots. I made 10 of them but only use 4.

They were only effective when nothing else was running. That is partly because I have a brick house.

Instead, I have "covered" a large percentage of the front of my house with various panels of lights.

Background lights I've not done a good job with, there were songs last year where I only turned on the floods a couple of times at all.  Sequences like the one Zwiller does over on diyla and on Falcon that really, really show off what you can do with a few floods as one of the central elements of the show is more where I think we need to look at using them rather than just thinking of the house as a canvas.

But I know exactly what you mean with the lack of oompf, running the Aether II units which are 34-40 watts each and run a bit over $100 built and installed into those 500 watt halogen light cases.  This year I hope to deploy a dozen or so 10 watts to also fill in a few more spots (PUN THERE) and get a better effect as you were talking about.  Saw some amazing videos where the colors were great, the distance and fill was an effect in itself.

Maybe today go out and put a few out for St. Patrick's day for the week.
