Do You Need Help? Post it here / Preview has very low sub 10 frame rate
« on: December 12, 2021, 08:02:27 AM »
Do not recall this issue with the 2020 versions, currently on 2021.38.  Playing Ron of Xtreme's Grinch in preview to set some timing marks and my frame rate is sub 7 here.  Makes it hard to put a timing mark where you want since the audio, timing mark, and the line are pretty chunk chunk chunk along there.

Thoughts on what settings I can tweak to get back into the high 20s like I recall seeing 2020 versions at?

The Water Cooler / Re: New xLights 3D Layout Demo

Really impressive looking work there Gil.  Being able to zoom into the preview and layout has been a long time feature I missed and be a great addition.

Are you thinking of maybe making the Z "grid" configurable.  You mentioned in the video working through how to do the z slices as you render.  Could having a maximum grid be workable?  E.g. maybe 100 slices would be an option for me as I don't have a huge front to my yard vs going all the way to the peak roof is the back for me.  I could likely get by with not many slices as just have a few items like roof outlines etc.

Very well done and love love love some effects.  You are a little harsh in some transitions though, a touch more tweaking remains..

Hear that.  Was on vacation last week and facebook was a major suck of my time while I was just relaxing, and quite frankly there was extremely little gained from all that time spent there.

Best of luck with your programming project Gil.

Its great to have dreams... :)

Any pro user already knows how to open 2 sequences at the same time btw.

Only 2, amateurs, you are not living dangerously until you have at 3 going in different directories and 2 in your show!

Nutcracker Effects / Re: How to make a lid effect on my mini trees?
« on: February 19, 2018, 02:45:22 PM »
Post it up on the facebook feed as a challenge to the group to figure out how to make it.  I begin to wonder if you could not use little box that affects the speed of the effect (cannot think of the right term while typing here) over the time of the effect.

Value curves in the term that eluded me.  You can control how fast things are done or not done over their duration.  Want them to bounce up fast and fall down slow, make a quick vertical peak and a slow ramp down the other side on the value curve.

2018.6 or in 2018.5?

It is surprising how often Dallas is EXPENSIVE to fly into.  We have to send customers and salesman to a manufacturing plant outside of Dallas many times a year and it's never cheap airfare.

Nutcracker Models / Re: Marty fan
« on: January 17, 2018, 02:53:48 PM »
as in when I have drawn one I cannot figure out how to make it spin and just always end up with a custom model and using some other effect to cause the spin.  Maybe I don't understand how that one works and it really just draws the spinner for you and you still have to change how the effects work to get the spin.

I currently have one Marty fan and I'm thinking of adding more so I'm trying to use the spinner model set up at a 180 degrees.

I have never figured out the spinner model, got the secret sauce to that one?

Run your mouse over the pixels on the image at the right in the submodel dialog.

Well aint that nifty, I had not even noticed that one.

Figured out clicking the column headers would light up all the pixels not just the row I was working on and that helped!

Can you point me more specifically to this plugin you speak of.

Home page for the git hub and a couple of screens off fpp on where it is in there:

The FPP pi projector plug in works with it, but ran into another issue that maybe xschedule would handle differently.

If the projector pi is a remote to the master, it will NOT just play a playlist even if an event tells it to.

Make the remote pi a standalone and it will play the playlist just fine.

What I need to figure out is either leave it as a standalone and figure out how to make it listen to the other channels to run the virtual matrix coming off the master or how to get a video to run independent of the show.  Maybe a video as a back ground. don't know.

Will revisit the protocol after the holidays Keith, I had found it a year or two ago but do not know if I kept it.  A lot of the protocol was in the plugin Ben has off the pi.

have a serial connection to the projector that I'll send HEX commands to trigger it to turn on / off.  That is all I want it to do.  I just need it to run on the as a remote to the Master.

Did you figure out the serial connection, I am only quickly finding an ip connection.

Have an old Panasonic projector and would like to have xschedule run it off the serial port for the on off sort of thing rather than via the IP address as I think the wireless on this beast is too old to connect to my ubiqiti gear.

do not have a wired ethernet port for either of them up in the attic where the laptop and projector will be located.
