Marty fan
« on: January 16, 2018, 08:30:20 AM »
I currently have one Marty fan and I'm thinking of adding more so I'm trying to use the spinner model set up at a 180 degrees.
The problem I'm running into is when I apply an effect such as the morph effect with it set for a full sweep up on the model it's going down and vice versa. ( right and left work fine)
My current setup in the model is 16 strings, arms / string 1, lights / arm 5, starting location Center clockwise, Ark 180, rotation -90.
This setup matches my Marty fan layout currently but it doesn't render correctly.
Is there a magic combination to get this to work?

Change your render style to per preview.

I have never figured out the spinner model, got the secret sauce to that one?

Not sure what you're looking for, I didn't have much trouble with it other than I'm trying to use it for something that it wasn't originally made for.
I'll have to admit this is my first time using a spinner model even though I have several spinners. I don't think the spinner model was available when I first made mine so I did custom models because they're very easy to lay out.
Keith's suggestion gave me an idea, I put the Marty fan ( spinner model ) in a group by itself and set the default layout mode as horizontal per model /strand to get it working how I like.

as in when I have drawn one I cannot figure out how to make it spin and just always end up with a custom model and using some other effect to cause the spin.  Maybe I don't understand how that one works and it really just draws the spinner for you and you still have to change how the effects work to get the spin.

Bars will make the spinner model spin but you may have to play with the bards direction.

Think of it this way even though you're looking at a round model with all the pixels in a circle internally xlights treats it is though it's a flat Matrix.
So both single strand and bars effect should make it spin.
