Lets see if this helps better. 18x25 horizontal.  4 strands of 100 and 1 strand of 50. I defined them as 9 Strands of 50 and 2 strings per strand 5 physical imputs to controller

Nutcracker Models / Qiuck question about matrix

I have 2 matrixes that have 18 strands high x 25 strands long and they are scrambled. I have 2 others That are 24 strands high and x 25 strands long they work fine. So my question is: the 2 with issues, are 4 strands of 100 and 1 strand of 50. I defined them as 9 Strands of 50 and 2 strings per strand. I had the same issue last year. Checked all the usual things Power, ect. So I am leaning towards layout. It all works in test mode on f16v1. The other matrixes 6 strands of 100  with 4 strings per strand and work fine

Gil I will have to check to make sure I am doing submodels right as I am not getting the tree1, tree2,  ect. On the grid as I had thought I should.

I have been playing with sub models but I guess I really dont understand exactly what it does. For example I have 3 mini trees that I just reworked and connected them in series. Each tree has 40 nodes for a total of 120 nodes. I know I can define them as their own tree and address each with the proper start channel but Using submodels I can define them as 1 sring and then use the submodel tab to break them into 40 each. When I put an effect on the one line group that I broke into submodels they all do the same. I clicl on the model and open it up to the node level but no submodels are there 1-40, 41-80, ect,  So what exactly is the purpose of the submodels?

I can't see what you are really doing.  Creating sub-models should have no effects on any effects you place at the model level.  They are only for putting an effect on the sub-model.  So what are you showing us is it one effect at the model level?  Have you experimented with the different render styles?

I will try different render modes. But as I said the center ( front ) string is the problem. Its splitting in 2 gdiffernt places instead of 1 using sub models first time using them

Tried to insert photos again, but must be tablet wont allow me to. But to answer you question, the string direction is correct. That has nothing to do with sub models. As I stated the curtain effect set to open from the middle  at node 101 the right side opens as it should but the left side starts open  at nodes 50 to 51 right and left side. It should start open at node 100 and go to the left just like the right side

Just curious if there is a bug in the submodel setup.  Attached is a pic. Showing what is happening . The model is 200 pixels broke into 4 sections at 50 pixels each. When I put a curtain effect on the model set at center it works fine on the right side ( looking at the picture view) but the left side is applying the curtain effect also starting at pixel 50 and 51. I have tried rendering it , wiping the model out. And remaking it but no change. Just thought I would try setting up sub models. Cannot figure out how to insert pics

If I understand you correctly in your post you are using 2016.30? If thats the case you are about 20 updates off and that includes alot of bug fixes. I would suggest updating

Last time I checked he said for the developers  not to post Hc stuff, as a consumer he cant tell us we cannot share what we have programmed. If you bought a sequence from him then I could undestand that, but his are lame and if I spend the time to sequence A talking face that I bought from him  or anyone else for that matter they cannot tell use we cant share our hard work. Ihave a rudolph I bought from him 2 or 3 years ago and could not find a place to put it in my display. Guess I found a place for it.  The burn pit!!!!!

Did you try changing your color order in xlights Rgb, brg, ect. If you are using different types of strings and sometimes from different vendors  you will have to switch the color order in xlight. I use test mode to find the color order that I need. Hopefully that helps.

I have a couple of the sae issues you are having with importing donor xml files. I have been emailing sean as to figure out how to solve them. I picked up the missig effects and timing issues as you as well by playing the donor sequence next to to the imported one.

I would strongly suggest you open and play and then save your source sequence in your current version of xlights before you do the import. That will ensure all the xml is upgraded to the current version. That should fix your text effect problems. While you are there export the timing tracks you want to xtiming files and you can import them into your new sequence.

I have tried this Idea and  unfotunatly it hasn't helped me. What make my situation more interresting is the fact that no models or effects have been changed from the donor sequence.
