Bugs in xLights/Nutcracker / Re: 2016.48 Tools|Check Sequence
« on: August 30, 2016, 02:04:13 PM »

I found it quite useful ! I found some models and groups lurking around (when I must have accidentally used my live directory for the manual documentation).
And was also able to verify that the duplicate models and overlaps were deliberate ie from when the newer model types (poly line , spinner , window) were not there.

I think the error messages for picture images not found is also very useful.

I think , unfortunately , the folks most likely to benefit from this function probably wont even know to run it first :)

Do You Need Help? Post it here / Sequence Element Mismatch error
« on: August 13, 2016, 09:06:46 PM »
1. I renamed a few Model Groups to add the word "Group" to the end of the name e.g Bottom Outline is now Bottom Outline Group  etc.
2. I also deleted a view "All Models" and created a new one "All Models View" - because the new wizard displays an "All Models" option twice .

My problem

When I open a sequence (as attached) , a message is displayed indicating that a Model (OutlineBottom) cannot be found (actually what is being displayed is the old Model Group not a model) ... but the list of Models/Model groups  that are presented to select a name from does not list all the models / groups. Am not sure why some models and groups are displayed any other are not.

As such I cant select the new name (OutlineBottom Group) to rename the old group to. So as each one fails , am editing the sequence xml manually to rename the names as required .

its more than just this one though ....

xLights Convert / Re: Converting 3.6 to current

As far as I know , it should convert .

Not quite sure what you mean by blank sequences. Have you tried clicking on the Render all ?

Do You Need Help? Post it here / Effect alignment functionality
« on: August 10, 2016, 09:04:35 PM »
Hello,

From what I have been able to ascertain :

Click on two (i.e not more than two) effects that are in the sequencer grid holding down the control key.
Then right click , select one of the alignment options and it then aligns to the last effect selected.

is this correct and/or is there other ways/functionality for this capability ?

For example, can I select more than two effects and have them all align to the last one ?

Thanks

Am updating the manual , so just checking if I have understood this correctly:

When defining the Start channel of a Model,
The 'Output Number'  option refers to the physical row on the Setup tab , so say Output 5 would match the universe that is defined in Row 5 of that tab

The 'Universe Number'  option refers to the Universe number specifed in the window, so say Universe ANY / 5 would mean Multicast Universe 5 if specified in the Start channel window (image attached).
Then the start channel is the channel within that Universe ?

I previously thought that the Output number referred to the Universe number..

Lights / Re: Pixels stay glowing red
« on: July 31, 2016, 08:22:36 PM »
From another post , it said 11.8v for the troublesome pixels.

They worked fine at that level - but I also found that they work okay on other controllers without having to turn the voltage down.

Last week I posted 2 videos showing the different effects of each model.

Hi,

Could you please post the links of those videos here ?

First time .. I have seen an encrypted sequence mentioned on these forums .

Just out of curiosity - are these newly created/bought sequences or old ones ?

Have you tried single strand or meteor or bars  , but with a render style of single strand rather than default ?

User Manual / Re: 2016.38 New update to User Manual
« on: July 08, 2016, 02:14:42 PM »
There were a few is us in that boat.

But actually that was such a blessing in disguise. Would not have had to look elsewhere and turn to xlights if there had been updates I guess. May have still been struggling along..

Money well lost .. :)

Yes that is correct - it would need to match.
Also - on the FPP - there are four network related files - but this one (E131 definition) is the most commonly used. The others are for when defining pixels connected to the Pins (and off hand I cant remember the other two).

Also - Keith had asked people to send him their xLights setup and Universe files so that he could check them against what was generated - but I don't think there was much user response.

Dan,

What you could do , is set them up as multicast in xLights - so that you can test directly from xlights should you wish.

Then set them up as Unicast in FPP.

As Gil said - as long as the channels match ...

BTW - the 'universes' file that FPP uses (for E131) is automatically created in xLights. You could use it to copy over to the FPP directory .. I have yet to document this in the manual cause I have to find out the FPP directory structure and try for myself to screen print etc.

Damn ! And just when I was able to recreate what I had done !  :(

The reason for deleting that model was I had not correctly obtained a screen print of a step earlier in the flow for the manual so was going to delete and add the model in again and copy the step.
