Start Channel - Output number v/s Universe number
« on: August 10, 2016, 06:07:30 AM »
Am updating the manual , so just checking if I have understood this correctly:

When defining the Start channel of a Model,
The 'Output Number'  option refers to the physical row on the Setup tab , so say Output 5 would match the universe that is defined in Row 5 of that tab

The 'Universe Number'  option refers to the Universe number specifed in the window, so say Universe ANY / 5 would mean Multicast Universe 5 if specified in the Start channel window (image attached).
Then the start channel is the channel within that Universe ?

I previously thought that the Output number referred to the Universe number..

No output number has always meant row number.  In my case it always also meant universe number because I allocated my outputs sequentially with only E1.31.

The any does not specifically mean multicast. It just means ignore the IP address and find the universe number. We have a user who uses unicast and the same universe number on multiple controllers. In his case he has to tell us which controller the universe is from. Most users should leave it as any.
