Xlights Test / Re: Speed control in test
« on: May 29, 2016, 12:44:53 PM »
I hope it will just send it once. I turn of output when i want to stop all data. Do not want data to be sent all the time. If not i will have to close test screen.

Falcon Hardware / F16V2 Presale #3 - the last one for the year.
« on: October 14, 2015, 04:58:34 AM »
Last chance to get F16V2 this year.

Because of demand we are running a third presale for the popular F16V2 pixel controller and expansion board.  The buying portion of presale may only last a week or two at the most. We will have them made and ready for shipping in the first week of November at the latest. Because of the expected smaller quantity of controllers to be produced the price has gone up a small amount. We will not be buying extra boards.  Please do not hesitate if you are interested in acquiring the F16V2 pixel controller this year. Time is of the essence.

Link to presale and information on the controller.

Falcon Hardware / F16v2 Interest Thread
« on: May 16, 2015, 06:36:40 AM »
The F16v2 beta has been going good. We have successfully driven 680 pixels per string in 16 string mode and 340 pixels in 32 string mode. The controller receives 64 universes of E131 data no problem. The DMX outputs all are working.  So in order to get a jump start of a presale I have created this interest thread to gauge how many to get built. This pre-sale will be for completely assembled boards and boards will be delivered in July.

Pricing
F16v2/w E131 input
$165.00 + shipping

F16v2 16 port expansion board
$40.00 + shipping

Board current specs[/B]

Power
Board can be powered from pixel power or external power. Both inputs can be 5-24VDC.
Power output port to power switches.
An additional optional 5-24V switched regulator can be added to give an additional 1.5A of power if needed on a 2-pin connector.
Two independent sides of power. Each one can be a different voltage.
(Expansion board also has two independent pixel power inputs giving 4 independent ports of input power when using 32 string mode and expansion board)
16 - Fused outputs for main board and expansion board.

Number of strings
16 strings or 32 with expansion board.
All strings can use any of the 32768 channels this controller can receive as a start address.
Each string can be independently configured for null nodes, zigzag, forward/reverse, node type, pixel count , grouping etc...

Pixel per string
680 pixels per string in 16 string mode or 340 pixels per string with additional expansion board ($40US) using 32 string mode.

String Types
All string ports can be any of the following string types. They all can be independently set.
WS2801 / WS2803
WS2811 / WS2812 / TM1804 / TM1803 / TM1809 / TM1812 / SM16715 / INK1003
TLS3001 / TLS3002 / CY3005
LPD6803 / D705 / LPD1101 / USC6909 / UCS6912

String Types to be added in near future
1903,SM16716,MBI6020,GE Color Effects, P981x, APA102
(We can fit two more in current image. Additional formats will be added to an additional image which will be held in flash making switching images as easy as selecting image in user webpage interface.)

DMX/Renard/Pixelnet Outputs
4 - Dedicated RS-485 outputs

LCD Display,Push Buttons and Indicators
.96" OLED 128x64 matrix display for setup and status.
5 - Push buttons to control display. Up, Down, Right, Left and Select
Power LED for main fuse/pixel board
Power LED for FPGA/Controller Board
Two multi purpose LEDS for status.
16 - Optional Blown Fuse LED Indicators (User must source LEDS)
Temperature Sensors
1 - Processor temperature sensor.
2 - Additional Sensors
(The sensors are like a little 2" two core wire. Additional wire can be added to move sensor out of enclosure to give ambient temperature outside.
One sensor will be mounted on the board and the other will be provided with unit.)

Voltage sensors
The incoming pixel voltages of main board are detected and displayed in user interface. (Display of voltages and temperatures of OLED is coming)

Raspberry PI Interface for running Falcon Player (FPP)
The controller in near future will have ability to connect directly to a RPi running FPP. In this configuration the controller can operate as a standalone controller with audio and video making it one of the most powerful platforms for driving RGB lights, music and video. All configuration of controller will be embedded into the standard FPP user interface.

Open Source
All files to produce software/firmware will be released at a near future date.

Notes:
1) Expansion board must be within 1.5 feet of main board. Maybe further but no guarantee.
2) Pictures belowe do not show the newly added OLED display and push buttons.
3) Pictures below do not show that the Pixelnet input section has been removed.
4) Also two holes have been added to FPGA board to hold Phy connector secure with a zip tie.
5) If you live in Australia or New Zealand, DarylC will be offering the boards over there.  Pricing will differ.

Very nice Dan. I think you have taken care of my use case. Awesome stuff.

Note:
If you just need to be near Pluto, Goofy, Donald and Mickey to get this much work done we can take an offering to send you to Disneyland next. :)

Nutcracker Models / Re: Preview Whole House
« on: April 28, 2015, 12:54:19 PM »
After you position the new models in the preview, click the "Create Wholehouse Model" again and give it the same name.

8
In the preview it is running at 32 frames per second, so better.

9
Are there any changes in the data for the "missing" packets?   If there aren't any changes, xLights won't send it.

I am running a butterfly at top speed with only 6000 or so channels on a matrix. This is in the sequencer tab not the preview.

10
Only 16-17 E131 unicast packets are sent per second on a 25ms sequence.

Enhancement Requests / Re: Teaser screen shot

Wow!!

All the beta boards are built. A couple parts need to be added to the FPGA board.

I also received pricing to have boards assembled by assembly house. The pricing was really good. This could shave $40.00 of the cost of the board bringing the board cost near the $160.00 range. Also if we offer a kit where the main board (all through hole) is assembled by user that could bring the price down another $25.00 and place the kit in the $135.00 range. We will see. :)

I will start an interest thread soon.

Nice overview of the new ui, david!

Will this new ui be brought back to the v1 controllers... a unified solution that does falcon-SSC, uSC, F16, and F8?

Also, when you said that switching to 32 ports would limit the string lengths to 340... it assumes that that all string lengths are uniformly given that same limit... right?  I other words,  i won't be able to have some strings of 100 and others of 580 to total 680... right?

I do want to merge all the pixelnet controllers into one user interface. So yes I need to merge uSC/SSC software with the Faclon control panel to give a single control panel for Pixelnet based devices. The Pixelnet vesion of F16v2 will also be including.

The video of the interface was a webpage based ui for the Ethernet module version of the F16v2. This is for people who currently use SanDevices or J1sys controllers and like using a standalone E131 type controller.

The TLS3001, TLS3002 and CY3005 pixels are now supported. I big thanks to Alan Dahl for loaning me the pixels.  Thanks Alan.

After spinning my wheels for an hour I decided to take a nap. It is funny how a nice siesta can help.  :)

This is video of the user interface at this point. Please feel free to give suggestions or feature enhancements.
I finished the analog to digital conversion of three temp sensors and the voltage input sensors. I need to add a small filter, pretty minor addition.
