The Water Cooler / Suggestions for audio equipment
« on: September 04, 2015, 07:54:32 AM »
I'm working with a non-profit on a mega tree display. It's outdoors in a public space. I'm looking for suggestions on audio equipment I could recommend. Tight budget of course. We've got the sequencing stuff figured out. I'm trying to help with the audio part of the equation.

Lights / Supplier for LED strips

I've spent quite a bit of time shopping online. I think I've been through Ray Wu's entire inventory and the usual suspects stateside. I came across a company in Texas SIRS-Electronics. They have all the high-end DMX Starwars stuff and a section on low-cost RGB.

There's lots of info in spec sheets and wiring diagrams. I sent a general sales inquiry via email and they responded in two business days. It looks like they have  5050 60LED/m RGB 12VDC for $35/5m spool. If I'm not mistaken, it's 4 wire. Connectors, power supplies etc.

Any advice or customer testimonials is appreciated.

Nutcracker Effects / Re: 9x9x9 Pixel Cube

I also played around with applying multi-layer effects to each matrix (Gil, you will recognize one of your effects from your ShutUpand Dance sequence).

Those effects are a great tutorial on using morph. I spent hours on them. Applying them to models other than a matrix had some beautiful results. I think morph is the way to go with the cubes you made.

Kudos

I'm appreciating timing marks made easy. Kudos to the pioneers. Thanks for the support resources. I went from bars to beats to note onsets in a couple of hours.
