Bugs in xLights/Nutcracker / Re: Picture effect in 2016.49
« on: October 04, 2016, 01:17:46 PM »
I discovered this bug last week as well.  The problem is you are double-clicking the file to select it in the file browser dialog and the grid is interpreting that double-click and unselecting the effect and selecting wherever you double-clicked underneath the dialog.  The workaround till we come up with a fix is to single click the filename to select it and then hit the OK button in the dialog.

Gilrock,

I will try the single click. Thanks

Gilrock, That solved it. Thanks for the help

Well I'd like to know how the order changed.  One thing I notice in your picture is the name "row 40" has a space character before the number whereas none of the other row names have a space.  But I didn't think we did any kind of name sorting for how the sub-models get displayed on the grid.

Gilrock, yes it has a space, but there isn't anyway to rename it after it's created so i left it that way. Maybe I could edit the xml again and fix it there?

I don't know how it changed. All I know is it did

Editing the XML worked. Thanks again.

I've never tried, but I would think you could edit the xml with notepad ++ or similar app.

I've edited other items in the xml, so would think this would be no different.

OK, Thanks. I'll give it a try

I just fell back to 2016.49 and the order of my sub-model list for my megatree is still messed up. Is there some way I can fix this? Maybe by editing some file?

7
You can safely fall back to v49

OK, Great. Thanks

I believe I have discovered a bug in ver 2016.50 with sub-models. In version 2016.49, I created 50 sub-models for my mega tree so I could access each row of lights. I named them row 1-50. They showed up in my model sequencer view in order, when I toggled the strands, However, now in ver 2016.50, they do not come up in order. Every time I restart Xlights they come up in a different order. I have attached a screen shot.

You will see that after row40, rows41 &42 are missing (actually found lower in the list) then other sub-models appear after row48 followed by rows 26 the 41 & 42, 46 and 49 & 50.

Can I fall back to version 2016.49?

When I try to use a picture, I browse for it, it's found and loaded into the effect settings but when I click on the effect in the sequencer the settings go away. What am i doing wrong. The pictures I am trying to use are from nutcracker/shared_images/

Thanks again guys. You are life savers!  I had an older version of the manual. I am all recovered. Onward and upward!

Thanks guys. I found lots of backup folders. I assume I rename the backup file to xml. Unfortunately none of them have anywhere near what my changes were. I also don't find anything in the manual.

I have Xlights set to save every 3 min. It just crashed and I lost at least two hours of work because it didn't save automatically. Is there some way I can recover my work? >:(

The way you had it would work exactly the same as Jim suggested if you changed the nodes to 100.

4 strings/200 nodes/4 strands = 8 strings/100 nodes/2 strands

Good to know Gilrock. Thank you

String = connection to controller 4
nodes /string as above 200
strands per string 4  (up, down, up, down)

Thank you Jim! I would never have figured that one out.
