Vixen 2.x, Vixen+ / Re: Import singing faces from Vixen 2.1 to xLights
« on: September 24, 2017, 07:36:25 AM »
Thanks for the replies. Yes at this point I'm really just focused on the 8 channel singing faces.

Are there any videos/step by step instructions for imports?  I'm new to xLights so the more step by step instructions the better.

My goal is to import just the faces of the dozen or songs I have. I'd like them to be editable as they're ok in Vixen but I'd like to edit them in xLights to get them perfect. I'd rather spend my time polishing what I have versus starting over.

Thanks again for the help!

Vixen 2.x, Vixen+ / Import singing faces from Vixen 2.1 to xLights
« on: September 23, 2017, 08:16:23 PM »
I have many halloween singing face sequences in Vixen 2.1 that I'd like to import into xLights. Based on reading various posts it looks like this can be done but with one huge limitation; you can't edit the imported sequence but you can add to it.

I'd like to edit the singing faces once I get them in xLights as I'd like to make some improvements.

Can I import a Vixen 2.1 sequence into xLights and edit the imported sequence or do I need to start over for Halloween?

Thanks in advance for your help!

2016.23! AC Spiral Mega Trees!!!! Thank you to the development team; especially Dan for writing the new functionality. Thank you to Julie for posting a custom spiral tree model that inspired this enhancement.

I'm sure this will make many an AC mega tree user very happy. This makes drawing and sequencing spiral mega trees a snap.

Thanks again to listening to user enhancement requests. We really appreciate the effort of everyone involved to make xLights the premier sequencer available.  Well done!

I have the custom model posted by Julie on April 24th. That's the best one to date. Thanks Julie :)

I'm hoping Dan can crank it out in short order. I know there are lots of people in the same boat as me. I'm hoping the developers Dan and Gil have mercy on me and create this preset. If they decide to tackle it, I'm sure it'll be much better than the functionality I've used in the past.

Thanks again for the consideration.

I'd like to BEG the developers of xLights to consider making an AC spiral mega tree a preset. In Vixen 2.1 there's a person who developed a plug in for the preview that did a great job for this task.

In the preview screen to create a spiral mega tree you entered the following:
1. Number of lines to base
2. Number of lines in group
3. Number of Channels per line group
4. Number of rotations

With these inputs, the preview drew an AC spiral mega tree in a matter of seconds and it was perfect every time.

I'm not a developer (I'm just a DAU) so I'm not sure the effort involved in developing this functionality. I'm happy to show any of the developers exactly what I'm talking about.

I will always have a number of AC elements in my display and a spiral mega tree is one of the features I don't plan to eliminate any time soon. I know there's plenty of other folks in the same boat as me. I've seen many ways to make an AC spiral mega tree work, but frankly the methods I've seen make this task way too difficult for the average user like me. I also understand xLights is aimed more at pixels but there's plenty of AC functionality as well.

Again, I'm begging for developer help to make this functionality a reality.

A BIG thank you to the developers for all you do to make xLights the great software it is; we really appreciate your time and effort!

Thank you for your consideration.

Thanks. Let me ask a clarifying question. Specifically what files need to be in the show directory so all the work I've done magically shows up? Once I know specifically which files are required, then I can work on different computers and not lose any work.

I want to move my files from one computer to another. What do I need to make this happen so I don't lose all the work I did on my previous model? Are there any video tutorials about how to do this?

Thanks!
