Bugs in xLights/Nutcracker / Re: Dimming Curve File not updating DCPanel
« on: December 13, 2016, 05:31:41 PM »
Thanks guys.  I think it is only a UI issue but honestly, I have not had an opportunity to test.  I was planning on doing that this evening after the lights go off.  I'll grab the latest and build from that.  I was attempting this afternoon to find where the dimming curve was applied while sitting in a 4 hr meeting... needless to say I didn't get very far :(

Bugs in xLights/Nutcracker / Dimming Curve File not updating DCPanel
« on: December 12, 2016, 07:55:09 PM »
Not really sure how much this functionality is used, but I had some initial problems with selecting a Dimming Curve from a file.  I saw that Dan Kulp checked in an update to the baseline over the weekend indicating he fixed an issue with the file loading.

When testing it this afternoon, I think I found a bug.

If you select either a Single Dimming curve or RGB Dimming Curve from a file, the red, green and blue DCPanel objects are updated via the FilePickerChanged even handler.  But when you reopen the ModelDimmingCurveDialog again, the 3 panels are initialized to default values, the file picker is set to the appropriate filename, but the *DCPanel objects aren't updated.  I suspect there was an assumption, like the manual entry text/sliders, would fire off an update event when setting the values (ModelDimmingCurveDialog::Init method).  There doesn't appear to be an update event when the FilePicker is populated.

So to reproduce:
1. Select the DimmingCurve from a model on the layout tab.
2. Change the drop down select box to Single Curve From File.
3. Select a file.
4. The red, green, blue DC panels update.
5. Click OK.
6. Click the DimmingCurve again.
7. The filename is populated, but the DCPanels are default values.

I'm running a mac and thought it was a DOS character issue, so i ran a dos2unix command on the file.  Still no joy.

So I created a .txt file 255 to 0 (reversed) on each line.  Attempt to apply to model as a Single Curve from File and xLights crash.  Even tried 0 to 255 and get the same result.

Is this possible?  I actually need to reverse a dimming curve.  0=100 and 100=0.  I'm not sure what the dimming curve file should look like.

If the question is to me... I was assuming I could use the generated beats track and that is what I was targeting.  In this instance, I was able to create timing marks on another timing track duplicating the generated one.  The period of time for this sequence where I wanted to do this was 7 seconds so it wasn't too bad to do it manually.

Follow up... if I select a different timing track, then it works as expected.  Does not work for the generated Beats timing track for some reason.

It was my impression that the VU Meter, Timing Event Color would change color, based on pallet, of the element on each timing mark.

When I drop the VU meter onto the element, I basically get white across the entire effect.  I have a timing track generated from the Beats.  Applied the VU meter, set to Timing Event Color with Beats as the timing track.  3 colors selected for the color.

Does not matter what color I chose... it is all white.

What am I doing wrong?

I posted this on FB, but I'll post it here as well.

At 1:12, the ribbon spiral effect up the tree.  I tried to do something similar last year but not even close to what she was able to accomplish here.  Any ideas/suggestions on how to get that type of effect?

Nutcracker Effects / Re: How to adjust light intensity for displays
« on: November 21, 2016, 08:36:12 PM »
Set intensity for each model in layout.

Are you referring to the Brightness control in the Dimming Curves?  Assuming setting it to -50 is setting it to 50% as the highest level.

That worked. Not sure why I didn't see/think of that.  Thanks.

I have a pixel tree, 7 strands of 30 pixels zig zagged configuration.  Can I change the node layout of the built in tree model or do I need to create a custom object?

Dan,

That is what it was.  The color palette had Red as the 2nd color and both White and Red was selected.  The model layout had only white.  I unchecked the Red in the color palette and the outlines began to show.

I knew it was something dumb I did :)

Thanks!!!

A couple of screenshots to show what I'm experiencing.  Yes, I believe I defined the outline in the model layout.  You can see that in pic 1.  Pic 2 is without a sequence open.  Pic 3 is sequence open, paused and a specific element selected.  You can see in the model preview that only the mouth is display even when I have the show outline checkbox selected.

On either the house preview or the model preview.  Eyes set to auto and the checkbox for outline is selected  on the effects settings.  Outline is dedicated to channel 1 on all models.  I have 4 monsters and none of them show.  Mouths work fine.  I'm running 2016.50 mac build.  I've run previous 3 builds and still see the same problem.  What am I missing?
