Do You Need Help? Post it here / Re: Controller Visualizer and DMX channels
« on: December 22, 2021, 02:08:38 PM »
Happy to Gilrock.
Can you help me understand how to do this in the most efficient way?  Would the controller screen help?  I can show visualizer, but there are too many models to see that the prop with DMX1 is missing.
Anything I can do to help get this solved, I am happy to do.

Looking for guidance.   I have not needed much help yet, so I am not very good at this.

I am still having this issue where I see all of my props except for dmx 1.  I have tried deleting and re adding the prop.  doesn't change anything.
everything is working fine except I cannot get my DMX props in properly because I don't have dmx 1 to start with.
HELP!!!

bumping this since I am revisiting.

I have spent several hours trying to get this to work without success.  I see all  my DMX props in the vislizer except the DMX 1 address.  Because of this, I have everything configured in visualizer except the dmx 1 prop.

Please help!

o.k.  So I have gotten some really good feedback and advice from the group, but I am still having a problem.  The first prop in my DMX chain is a single strand, wireframe, christmas tree.  That would be the first prop that I would hang off of Serial 3 port on my first Falcon F16v3.
Again, my show worked this season, but I am updating everything and doing a little testing while I have a few things up!
So, when I go into visualizer, I have my RGB props setup and I see how to add my DMX props to Serial 3, but I cannot find my wireframe christmas tree anywhere on the list.  I have looked at the other ports on this controller, plus I have looked at all the ports on my second controller which is also a Falcon F16v3 that runs my Mega tree.  No Prop.
Any Ideas?  I am starting to pull out what hair I have left.

If I can find that prop, then I can put all my DMX props into visualizer, then I can start doing easier management of the whole thing:)

I am looking forward to it!  I love how easy it is to manage the RGB props.

Thank for the help!

I have some further questions on the visualizer when it comes to DMX.  Now that the season is winding down, I am trying to correct my list of DMX channels in the visualizer.
All of my DMX props are on Serial 3.  I have been trying to add them in order on the visualizer since an earlier post responded to me that the order mattered.j

Here is my problem:  I am on version 2020.57, I have removed all my DMX props from the visualizer and have gone on to re-add them.  The are not going into the visualizer in order and I cannot seem to change them. When I highlight the prop in visualizer it shows the correct DMX channel number.

What am I missing?  Do i add my DMX props to visualizer and it takes the dmx info from the information put into the layout tab?  If so, I can just make sure that all of them are on the correct serial port and I should be good to go.

If order matters, then how do I change the order in the visualizer?  It is simple to do for the RGB props, but it doesn't seem to work the same for the dmx items.

all help appreciated!

Happy New Year and here is to a better 2021 than 2020!

Dave,

Thank you, that did the trick!!!
Normally this time of year i don't update any code, but I didn't realize I was this far behind!
Updating Xlights cleared the problem and now I can see my props.

Thank you and Merry Christmas!!!

Purged the download cache, tried redrawing using the second to right button from the right (the one that looks like a down arrow, says "Create New Download"), and I still get the "Unable to retrieve any vendor information.

I am running Xlights version 2020.23 64bit version if helps!

O.K.

A couple of updates.
1.)  I found the google drive and the files for my props and put them in my xlights directory.  Same directory I use for my sequences and media.
2.) I clicked the second icon from the left and drew a box on my layout.  Got an error message. "Unable to retrieve any vendor information!

So, now I am stuck....  any help will be appreciated!

Merry Christmas!

Thank you for the input.

So what I take from that is order matters?

In other words, I have to list the models in the visualizer in the order that I have them setup on my DMX controllers?
If I do that, do I have to do anything special with the channel assignment?

o.k.

The last 2 buttons i have are the create new download button and the one marked add obj.  The add obj button is greyed out and the download doesn't seem to do anything.
I have attached a screen shot.

Being new to using RGB and vendor models, I have not done this and I have not gone to the google drive.  any direction will be helpful!

Thank you Keith for responding.
Now for the dumb questions?  Downloads?  What are you referring too here?
I can contact them, but still we need to understand what to do!

Thank you,

MIke.

Nutcracker Models / importing models from Gilbert Engineering!!!
« on: December 15, 2020, 04:43:06 PM »
Hello everyone,
I must be missing something...  I have looked on the wiki, on youtube, on the forum, and I cannot figure out how to import  the models for a couple of items I purchased from Gilbert Engineering this year.
I have a couple of small snowflake models that I would at least like to see if there are models and how to wire them before I push pixels!

I have looked for Gilbert Engineering, I have looked for the google drive, etc.  no luck.

Could someone please point me a direction?  I would prefer not to build custom models, but if I have too, I have too.  I am trying to get smarter about how I do this!

Thanks,

I hope everyone's shows are running successfully!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Thank you Keith,

That is what I seemed to remember, but I wanted to check.
Like I said, it is a 36 inch corostar with 290pixels and instead of 3 ports, I only have 2 to run it off of.

Have a Merry Christmas!
