The "Null" Controller is causing the crash. I fixed the issue for the next release.

I tried your folder layout on my windows machine and it worked for me. Maybe attach your log and see if there is more debug information.

I'm running the 2018.30 AppImage on Fedora 28 and the scroll bars appear as expected.
