General Software / Show computer not opening file model/group
« on: December 05, 2019, 01:06:24 PM »
Hello.

I do all my Xlights creations, mapping, design, model groups etc... on my office computer. I have a small laptop I run my show off of. This year my files are synced to my Google Drive. When I go to the show computer, then google drive and select the show folder, the lighting networks open, but none of my layouts are there. What am i doing wrong here? Thank you in advance for your help.

General Software / Re: Animation/Picture Folder
« on: November 23, 2019, 12:18:23 PM »
For some reason, this just isn't working.

The sequence I am working on is in the show folder, in its sub folder with all associated files. My steps (which have been unsuccessful)

1. Open xlights- confirm my show folder is set.
2. Open sequence folder (which is inside show folder) that I am currently working on. Inside sequence folder is all files in addition to folder that contains all images.
3. Render all
4. save.
5. Close sequence- reopen in the hope that success has finally been granted. Failure! All hope is now lost. Wait, try again- no, all hope is lost again.
6. Go to xlights forums again.

Thank for the response. I am doing that, but it doesn't seem to work. (Mac OS- Not sure if this matters)

1. Change shared folder location to where my files are.
2. Open Sequence
3. Render sequence and save.
4. Animations and photos are still under the developers local computers address.
5. Frustration setting in.

Hello everyone.

I am importing a sequence to map, everything looks good on the import except for the pictures. I cannot get the picture folder to update to my computer location. Of course because of this the photos do not show up when playing the sequence. Any help would be really appreciated.

Xlights Setup / Xlights Scheduler
« on: December 06, 2018, 06:58:17 PM »
Hello all. My show length is right at 20 minutes. I start the show at 6:30 and it runs until 9:00, looping each time. I would like for the show to begin at the top and bottom of each hour instead of looping right into the next show. Is there any way to set the scheduler to do this? Thank you in advance.

Thanks for the suggestions. When I power inject, can I just run the power injection to an empty channel minus the data of course? Or do I need to attach directly to empty terminals on the power supply?

Xlights Setup / Best way to program C9 Pixel Bulbs
« on: November 11, 2018, 04:52:38 PM »
Hello, I was wanting to get a little help for the optimal way to program my roof outline. I will attach a photo for help understanding. I have 300 C9 Brilliant bulbs. I have 100 (2 strands) going over my garage gutter, up the roof, back down which makes a triangle. The other 200 (3 strips) starts on the left side of front gutter, continues along the font of the house, then up the roof line. I am trying to minimize power injections, or running even more wires to the controller down my roof. Can I run all 300 to one channel and then power inject at the other end? Open to all suggestions. Thank you

Xlights Setup / Re: Pixel Panel Help

Thank you for the reply. I am not married to any of MY ideas....lol, that's why I come on here for the real way to do things. I actually went back and just put one panel 140 lights (420 pixels) on one universe. I now have 6 panels on universes 1 through 6. All is good during testing.

Xlights Setup / Pixel Panel Help
« on: October 01, 2018, 09:55:18 AM »
Hello all. I am trying to create a 6 Modular Matrix Panels to go in front of my house columns. Each panel has 140 nodes which I divided into 2 universes 70 nodes each (210 pixels each). I would like for all the lights to start at the bottom of the panel and work up on different effects (similar to an equalizer). No matter what I do in xlights settings, I am not able to achieve this. I am not sure about the strings, strands of strings and so forth. I am attaching a picture of my Xlights settings which I am sure if way off. Here is how I have the controller programmed for one panel as an example Start universe 1, start channel, 1, pixels connected 210. Null- 0. Zip Zag- 35 (i'm trying to get all the lights to start at the bottom of the panel I thought the zip zag did this) not sure if this is correct either. The second part of the panel would be Start universe 2, start channel, 1, pixels connected 210. Null- 0. Zip Zag- 35. I am also attaching a diagram of what i'm trying to do so hopefully this will help. Any help would be appreciated.

General hardware / Combining two controllers
« on: September 30, 2018, 05:39:29 PM »
Hello. Just needing a little help here. I have to AlphaPix 16 channel controllers. I am trying to combine them on my network. I currently have 7 channels connected on one controller- setup 1 through 7 with the IP address (192.168.0.50) that came with the controller. My second controller I starter at 17-32 and changed the IP address to 192.168.0.60. However, when I go to xlights and do testing, different universes are crossing over between controllers for my groups. I am probably not expressing myself very clear. When I put an effect in lets say "window" on controller one, it is showing up somehow on my effects for "roof line" which is on controller #2. Any suggestions would be very helpful.

The Water Cooler / Halloween Show

Hello. Just curious for those that put on a Halloween show. How early does your show begin? Early October? Mid October? Or perhaps even earlier?

My Show Setup / Re: Early Matrix planning

Jnealand, nice tips on the issue with using peg boards. Moisture and visibility would definitely be a problem. I like what you made you matrix out of, I think that would work for me too.

My Show Setup / Early Matrix planning
« on: January 16, 2018, 07:02:22 AM »
Hello. Last season was my first show, and for short amount of planning and supplies it turned out well. Of course knowing what I know now, I need to plan earlier for expansion. I definitely want to do a window matrix or two. I see the pre-made matrix panels on different sites for sale, but what would be the problem with using regular peg board from Lowe's or Home depot to get the same results? I know I would have to drill the holes a little larger, but wouldn't they serve the same purpose? Thank you for your input.
