There are times when using the audio waveform to mark timing is preferable to other methods of marking times for effects. Unfortunately, there is no way in XLights that I have found to increase the amplitude of the waveform.
The attachment XLights Waveform.png was a screenshot taken from XLights. You can see that the audio waveform is difficult to visualize and thus, it is challenging to place timing markers at the onset of the majority of the sounds that are associated with this waveform segment.
The attachment Audacity Waveform is the same section, from the same song, but with the amplitude increased. Here you can see that it is very clear where timing markers could be placed.
While it may seem that the notes onset function in the new timing window would suffice for this, I have never been able to get it to provide accurate timing markers. That function either puts in way too many markers or not enough. Additionally, the placement of the markers it does add are almost always inaccurate making this tool effectively unusable. This functionality would be made significantly easier using the method I described above.
