Thank you very much!  The single line Render Style made it happen!  I really appreciate your help with this.

Marque causes the entire model to light up at the start of the effect.  What I am trying to do is to have the colors start at one point and then advance through the model.  So at the start, most of the model would be black.  At the midpoint, half the model would be black while the other half would be showing the chase pattern.

Is there any reason why we cannot change the order of views in the Edit Display Elements window?  I saw that this topic was brought up back in 2015 but could not determine if any changes were made to this function.    At this point, the only way that I can see to change the order of the views is to delete them one by one and recreate them in the order that I want them to be in.  Am I missing somethin?

Do You Need Help? Post it here / Need a simple chase function

I have been trying to find a method of starting an effect with 5 red, 2 black, 5 green and 2 black that would begin at pixel 1 and advance to pixel 100.  The model is one of the boscoyo animated bells.  I have included a picture to demonstrate what I am trying to do.  If I was trying to do this on an arch or a straight line, the chase function would work.  However, when applied to different types of models the "left to right" "right to left" modes do not work.  It literally does the entire model from one side to the other.  Using the single strand Render Style does not work either.

Would it be possible to add a function to the Chase effect which indicates which pixel to start at and which one to end at as well as specific nodes to skip?  This would accomplish what I am trying to do and would hopefully not require a great deal of modification to the program.

Even if this effect could be accomplished without the function of skipping nodes this would be very helpful.

Enhancement Requests / Change Waveform Amplitude in Sequencer.
« on: December 14, 2021, 02:34:57 PM »
There are times when using the audio waveform to mark timing is preferable to other methods of marking times for effects.  Unfortunately, there is no way in XLights that I have found to increase the amplitude of the waveform.

The attachment XLights Waveform.png was a screenshot taken from XLights.  You can see that the audio waveform is difficult to visualize and thus, it is challenging to place timing markers at the onset of the majority of the sounds that are associated with this waveform segment.

The attachment Audacity Waveform is the same section, from the same song, but with the amplitude increased.  Here you can see that it is very clear where timing markers could be placed.

While it may seem that the notes onset function in the new timing window would suffice for this, I have never been able to get it to provide accurate timing markers.  That function either puts in way too many markers or not enough.  Additionally, the placement of the markers it does add are almost always inaccurate making this tool effectively unusable.  This functionality would be made significantly easier using the method I described above.

My question regarding this is how to set this up in Xlights.  I don't think I can have 222 nodes on one output.  I am using the Alpha Pix 4 and Alpha Pix 16.  Should I do 100 on one output and 122 one the next?  If so, how do I set that up in XLights?

Enhancement Requests / Multiple Layouts
« on: January 13, 2020, 03:37:17 PM »
I currently run two shows, one at Halloween and one at Christmas.  I would like to be able to save two different layouts based upon the same setup.  The lights attached to the house are the same in both, but many of the models are different.  At this point I do not know how to have two different layout screens.

Do You Need Help? Post it here / Getting a good recording of my show
« on: January 02, 2020, 11:25:34 AM »
I have seen some excellent recordings of displays from lots of you.  I am not sure what I am doing wrong, but I cannot get a good clear recording of my show.  It comes out grainy an the focus isn’t great.  I have tried recording with my iPhone and IMO recorder but the results are the same.  Would someone let me know what your recording process is?  What hardware do you use?  How far from your display do you record from?  What brightness setting re you using on your light outputs?  Any other tips?

Thank You in advance!

I did not use groups for the songs where the reverse occurs.  I have checked the sequence and it is entered correctly.  I also verified the hardware connections.  Christmas Gremlins?  LOL

Thanks for the help.  That resolved most of the problems. However, two of my snowflakes are activating out of sequence.  I have 10 snowflakes in my display.  On two of the songs, SF’s 7 & 8 fire in reverse order. They behave fine for the rest of the songs, at least as far as I can tell.  Any thoughts?

Do You Need Help? Post it here / Multiple Problems
« on: November 30, 2019, 01:06:21 PM »
Hoping someone can help...   there appears to be some problem with my output from my PC to the lights.  Everything looks fine on the preview screen.  Yet  when the data goes out to the lights there are numerous issues.  1) roof on left side only lights half the strand.  The same goes for the left side of the door and the upright side of the garage.  My four mini trees and their stars do not light at all.  (Check sequence shows that the mini trees overlap with the mega tree.   The mega tree is on a completely different controller with a different IP address.  On two of my songs, one of the snowflakes is firing out of order though they work fine on the remaining songs.  Yesterday, the colors were different on everything though that seems to have cleaned up after recompiling all the songs.  The software takes forever to close a song. I am talking 7 to 10 minutes.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in Advance.  Rick

A few notes...  I am running .67
All lights turn on when tested from the hardware.

Bugs in xLights/Nutcracker / Re: Problem with Xschedule
« on: December 15, 2017, 12:22:49 AM »
Gilrock, I have repeatedly checked to verify that the directories for XLights and Schedule are the same.  This was mentioned by several people in the Facebook group previously so it was something I have checked already.  When I run check schedule it verifies that the directories are the same.  The only error I am getting in check schedule is the following;

FSEQs without 26520 channels
ERR: Playlist 'Christmas 2017' has step 'Halleluya' with FSEQ item Halleluya with 24576 channels when it should be 26520 channels.
ERR: Playlist 'Christmas 2017' has step 'Its The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year' with FSEQ item Its The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year with 24576 channels when it should be 26520 channels.
ERR: Playlist 'Christmas 2017' has step 'Winter Wonderland' with FSEQ item Winter Wonderland with 26624 channels when it should be 26520 channels.
ERR: Playlist 'Christmas 2017' has step 'Wizards in Winter' with FSEQ item Wizards in Winter with 24576 channels when it should be 26520 channels.

So three songs have 1944 fewer channels than anticipated while two have 104 channels too many.  I have 52 models on their own individual ouptuts.  The setup allows for 510 channels per output so we get the 26520.  I do not understand how all these songs, which use the same models, can show different numbers of channels.  As this is the only error I am getting in check schedule I believe that this must be the source of the problem.  The question is, how do I fix it?  Do you think this could be the source of the problems?  If not this, then what else would you recommend checking?

I am having similar problems.  When I run a sequence from XLights sequencer with output to lights, it works fine.  When I use the Scheduler it comes out as pure garbage with only about 50% of the lights working.  Check schedule states that in all sequences there is a discrepancy between the number of lights in the sequence and the number of lights expected, which is higher than the number in the sequence.  I have no idea what that means.  I also have no audio output.  I have tried to computers, two networks and two FM transmitters.  No audio.  I am getting sick of people stopping by, politlely inquiring when the music will start.  The best I can do at this point is put up a short sequence with the plasma affect being sent out to all lights.  I am quickly approaching the point where I am thinking of just going back to LOR and regular LED lights.  At least then I had something that worked.  Yes, I am frustrated and pissed off.
