Xlights Setup / Despair Q1: Controllers tab
« on: December 06, 2020, 05:37:02 PM »
?m hopelessly lost and in despair.  For a time, I thought I understood some of this and could make it work.  Now, not so much.  Here are some questions.  I?ll post others separately.

I have 3 controllers -
* F16V3 Alley with firmware 2.55, connected via ethernet cable to a Pi running FPP v.4.3.  I reach the FPP at 192.168.1.180.  By proxy through FPP, I reach the F16 at 192.168.3.30.  Most questions relate to use of this controller.
* F16V3 Ozark with firmware 2.55, connected via ethernet cable to a Pi running FPP v.4.2.  I reach the FPP at 192.168.1.191.  By proxy, I reach the F16 at 192.168.3.40.
* F8-PB (now K8-PB) with Pocket Beagle running FPP v.4.2.  I reach the F8-PB at 192.168.1.200.

In xLights when I hit the Discover button in the Controllers tab, I get what you see below (or will see when I figure out how to include the picture).
1. Why are Alley and Ozark listed as both E131 and DDP?
2. Why does FPP Interior say -1 Universes/Id?  (I?m having the least trouble with how I am using this controller.)
3. Why does FPPOzark3rd (the actual name of that FPP) indicate 65 Universes and 16392 channels?
4. Why does FPPAlley show 66 Universes (or Universe 66) and 21512 channels?
5. Should I just delete FPPOzark3rd DDP and FPPAlley DDP?
6. On the Controllers tab, the little green light on the bottom indicating that the controller can be reached is on for the top for but is red for FPPAlley.  I have no trouble reaching FPPAlley, both the Pi and the F16V3.  Is this a problem?

Do You Need Help? Post it here / xLights or FPP issue?

This is either an xLights question or an FPP question.  I’m learning toward the former.

I have nearly duplicate setups for the front and back of my house - FPP on RPis connected to F16V3s via Cat6 cable.  I’ve allocated 32 universes for the back and had that all set up and working months ago.  I’m trying to get the front set up.  I need the front and back to operate independently.

Right now, both front and back are set up on unicast.    The back uses universes 1-32 (channels 1-16,384).  Having used FPP Connect, the E1.31 page on the front FPP is showing universes 33-64 and the associated channels.  On the F16V3, the E131 set up page shows the same universes and channels.  The string ports have the distribution of channels to fit my props.

Using the test functions in both FPP and on the F16V3 works fine.

In xLights, I created 2 models totaling 400 pixels.  In xLights, the first model is set to start on output 2 (the front controller) and shows a start channel of 1 (16,385).  I’ve uploaded a simple sequence to the FPP, created a playlist with it and attempted to get it to play.  Nothing.

What am I doing wrong?  What additional information or screenshots do you need to figure out where I have gotten off track?

Thanks in advance. Any help will be much appreciated.
