Do You Need Help? Post it here / Re: Upload show from XLights to Pi Player Universe change

xLights will auto configure your controllers for you by default.  It is a really cool feature that you should consider, but if you want to manually configure your controllers, you can disable this feature.  From the "controllers" tab select your controller and disable xLights control.

Hello,

I am new to XLights and have a question. This may be a rookie mistake, but I sequence my show and then upload to the falcon and the universes change on all my controllers and I have to manually change them back every time. Is there something I am missing or doing wrong?

TIA

User Manual / Re: Model Chain

Neither. Use the visualizer from the controller setup to put models on the right ports.

Before the visualizer, we used to chain from prop to prop to put them "in order". This is auto maintained if you use the visualizer.

Just go ahead and get your models created with the right values for the lights. Then, pop back to the controller tab and use the visualizer.

User Manual / Model Chain

What does Model Chain do in the model layout?  It gives me two choices fo the 'chain after model' dropdown -  'beginning' or the model name.  What should it be set to?

Thank You

Enhancement Requests / Named values / parameters. Similar to fusion 360
« Last post by n8hart on November 02, 2024, 02:01:30 PM »
Maybe this exists already, and I just don?t know how to do it.

There is a feature in Fusion 360 that allows you to define parameters (named values) that you can then reference when setting dimensions. This allows the user to apply a value change to anything that was assigned that parameter.

I think this functionality could be very useful in xLights.
Let's say you have multiple on/ off effects and they all need the same end intensity.
When you set the value, you would instead use a parameter you configured for the sequence. Any on/ off effects you set up using that parameter in place of a value would share that parameter?s value. If you wanted to change that value, you just need to open up the parameter and update its value. Anything referencing that value would be updated at the same time. This would eliminate the need to select multiple effects to apply a change to all of them.

Hope this makes sense. If I were a C++ dev, I'd build it, but I'm just a .NET dev :).

Do You Need Help? Post it here / Re: Multiple people sequencing for the same light show

If the groups and layers are different on each workstation, they would render differently on each machine.  Each system would have to render the sequence separately on their own workstations, or you would have to create separate temporary folder for each user.   The .fseq file should contain everything needed to play minus the music, and it should not matter which computer it came from.

If each person was creating their own unique sequences it should work.  You could of course import the sequence as well.

Clearly all the models and controllers would have to match exactly on all systems.

Do You Need Help? Post it here / Multiple people sequencing for the same light show

We have 3 people creating sequences for our town's light show. We each have our sequencer tab's set up with different views (different model groupings & layers, etc). Will this be a problem when we run the show? I have not sequenced for a few years, and am having trouble remembering some of the particulars. I am thinking that when the scheduler loads a sequence, it brings in the groupings and layers associated with that particular sequence so it won't be an issue.
