Crash when trying to Render
« on: July 31, 2016, 11:19:44 AM »
I have taken another person's files in an effort to import my effects. All effect import but when I try to Render4 it crashes. I am on .40. The other was on .48 (did not work) and then updated to .42 (did not work). I can see the effects in motion if I click on each prop but am unable to Render

Files Attached.

I'll have to check with Dan about why but this is crashing due to the first empty layer on the Minitrees model group.  Delete that layer and it works.  Add the empty layer back in and it crashes.  Surely something we need to fix but it seems like for now just don't create any layers that are empty.

I really don't think it has anything to do with the empty layer, but there are some other bugs in the single channel tree types that can cause a problem.  In this case, the Vertical by Model/Strand render style on one of the effects was causing a buffer size with width 0 which is really not valid.   Just pushed a fix.

I deleted the layer and did render all and it doesn't crash.  Then I right-clicked and said add layer above giving me an empty layer again and then it crashed on render all.

Yeah that fixes it.  Not sure why deleting the layer made a difference.

I should have deleted it in the first place. I'll do that and see what it does after I spend the day with the family at Magic Mountain.

Everything works after deleting the empty layers. Back to work everyone. This case has been solved. ;-)

Well for my last comment I was replying to Dan's change.  His code change also fixes the problem without deleting the layer.
