Sequence Pausing
« on: December 02, 2018, 10:08:08 PM »
I’m having lagging issues in my show. The lagging seems to get worse after the scheduler (xscheduler) loops through the show a few times. The show is pausing about every 1-2 seconds. My display is all pixels and run via 4 alpha pix and 2 falcon controllers in unicast. I have tested every sequence and only have a few small warnings for blocks of unused channels. The blocks are fairly small. My props are all mapped to universe and start channel. I run the show on a separate network from my home and I have WiFi turned off on my laptop when the show is running.

Also, i don't get any lagging when playing a sequence in xlights sequencer and outputting to lights.

Any suggestions to try are greatly appreciated.

Try to upgrade to .51 as I have been fine tuning some things based on what other people are experiencing. Also happy to spend some time with you to help bottom out what the issue is. Catch me on FB messenger.

HI Keith,
We upgraded to .51.  I had my wife run the show during the day and the interesting part is that in task manager the network was showing 97-98% utilized when running the show.  She didn't let it run for long enough to see if it was pausing.  I'm going to try that in just a bit.

thanks

I still have the pausing on vs 51.  I checked and she had wifi on when checking earlier, the network usage was on 4% when running the show with wifi off.

Would be so much easier to discuss this on zoom. It sounds like you are swamping your network with data ... the question is should you be and is it going to the right place?

If xschedule is master and you have remote pis consider turning off any universes being sent to the pi.

If you have multiple network cards consider use of force ip or turn off the network you are not using for your show.

Hi Keith
Sorry my laptop battery died so I lost the zoom meeting. I ran through 3 shows cycles with no lag so perhaps the upgrade to v 51 did the trick. I’m wondering if I should leave the log file in debug for a while in case the magnet comes back. That way I can not the time and reference it to the log. Does that sound like a good idea?

As long as it is running ok it really doesn’t matter. The logs cycle so they won’t grow beyond a certain point.
