Nutcracker123 into LSP
« on: January 13, 2014, 09:40:08 PM »
HI Guys,
I get asked it quite a bit over at ACL on how to get Nutcracker effects on to an element like a mega tree in LSP so I thought I would post how I did it.
Currently the guys are still looking into the xlights version of Nutcracker working with LSP but for now I just use the web based version to build the effects.

Below is a quick video I did up for one of the guys that goes thru the procedure.
You'll all have to pretend your name is Doug to watch it and I hope you don't need a Aussie translator.

i have data files a user made and i will be fixing the *.user creation so we can finally get export to lsp working like the web version of nutcracker.

i wish, REALLY WISH, that lsp would support importing in either a vixen *.vir or an hls *.hlsnc file. These are space delimited 8 bit and 24 bit files. instead of a 900 mbyte *.user it would be 80mbytes as a *.hlsnc. Exact same data.

Unless you have a compelling reason to use the LSP scheduler I would do all the LSP effects and bring .seq into Xlights or use Light Elf to convert to xseq and bring into Xlights. Once in Xlights you can overlay Nutcracker effects onto the sequence file. If you need to make updates to LSP file make them and repeat the process. All this takes less time then waiting for huge copied XML file to copy into LSP grid and you can use new Nutcracker 3.0 effects. Then use Xlights or Pi Player to play the show.

Right now i can only think of a few reasons to want to export back into LSP. You need to use video clips which will be supported this year in Nutcracker or you want to see the Nutcracker effects in LSP visualizer which can be seen in Xlights anyway. Not being able to use Nutcracker 3.0 effects is a high price to pay for LSP visualization of Nutcracker. There may be a few more. Please list them if you could so we can think of ways to resolve them.

This is what I did on a couple of sequences, not a single issue.  Worked great/looked great.

Thanks for the advice so far, I can see now how you have done it and I will have a go at that and test away.
I don't have a problem with using LSP scheduler, just have a project i'd like to do in FPP.
