Fit to time tickbox
« on: February 01, 2014, 07:13:27 PM »
Hi all....

UPDATE:  For anyone interested....Sean gave a great explanation of this effect (thanks Sean) over on the DIYC site.... http://doityourselfchristmas.com/forums/showthread.php?31684-Fit-To-time-tickbox

I know this is probably painfully obvious to most longtime users but...... I that leaves me out... LOL..

What is the "Fit  To time" box in NC?

I figure this is probably a basic thing so it seems a good time to bring this up.  When you aren't a regular user or if you're rather new some things that seem obvious to the frequent user goes right over the head of some of us.  I see all the buttons....tickmarks....etc but in a lot of cases I'm not sure what they do and frankly if I don't know what the software is capable of doing I don't even know what I'm attempting when I click on some of these.....in some cases I can even be assuming it will do 1 thing.....but due to my lack of background I don't even know enough to know the software can't do what I'm trying and/or what I'm assuming is called a certain function is actually something else all together....

I'm sure I lost some of you in my long winded attempt to explain what I'm saying so let me try another way...

Is there a user manual that describes what all the buttons, tickmarks, bells and whistles are supposed to do to include some sort of explanation as to when and HOW you can use them?

If I knew that XL/NC could perform certain functions....I would at least know what I'm trying to do or where to start.....or what question to ask.

As an example...."Fit to time"..... I have no clue if that is designed for use with XL sequences only or does it also work when you wish to export to another sequencer?

I don't post this as a criticism but as call for help..... I absolutely love the effects and I understand how to create, preview, and export effects because I was able to read the "Intro PDF" that someone created.  Without that PDF file I would never have figured it out on my own......

I'm looking for more documentation similar to that to take me to the next level of effects sequencing.  I would like to learn how to coordinate my effects with beats in the music.  Right now I have some neat colors pattern effects but they really don't sync up with the music at all....I can start an effect at a specific point in the music but that's about it.....

An example of what I would like to figure out is on my mega tree....I would like red and white vertical bars (candycane look) that would rotate around the tree to the beat in the music......

I don't even know where to begin......

Can anyone throw a lifeline in my direction?

Sean.....if you see this I'm posting it on the DIYC site also just in case I get a hit over there......so if you respond just ignore the other site.....

Thanks

SC
