What does Export Model and Export all do?  Where does the Exported file end up?

If you try selecting Export Model you will get a dialog that shows you all the options.  As far as where the file goes I believe it will save to the Show directory.  The code is confusing because we have a CurrentDir variable which is used to save the file but it appears to always be equal to the showDirectory variable.

I had a sequence opened which I had finished working on.  And was curious as to what export model did. So I picked on it and a window opened to either pick from Export All or Export Model.  I picked Export Model.  Nothing happened after that.

What file extension does a model have?

Ah...you and I are talking about two different things.  You must have been on the Menu and those aren't connected to do anything yet.  I was talking about when you right-click on a model in the sequencer you can select Export Model and that one will do something.

Oh, ok, I didn't right click on anything. Guess I haven't got used to the option that I can right click on a button.
I picked on the Export button in the menu bar.
I don't know why I would use the export function.

Not sure what button you mean.  I'm talking about right-clicking the row header on the sequencing grid.  It's where the model name is to the left of where you drop the effects.

The export button I am referring to is at the top of the screen in the same bar with File,  Playlist, View, Export , Settings, Help.

That's a menu item.  You said "I haven't got used to the option that I can right click on a button" so I was trying to clarify it's the row header cause I didn't know what "button" you were trying to right-click.

I'm not an expert on the Vixen export.  But it looks like for now you have 2 options.  You can export a single model by right clicking the row heading on the Sequencer tab like I've been saying.  It will popup a dialog where you can change the file format to Vixen .vir file and give it a name.  Or you save your file and use the Convert tab.

There are two ways to export:

In xLights 3.6.x
1) Clcik Export and every channel defined in your SETUp tab would be exported. Output can be vix, vir, lms, lcvb .etc.
2) Click the Model Export" button and it prompts your which model you wanted to export. This was restricted to vie,lcb files

In xlights 4.0
1) Save your sequence. Go to CONVERT tab. Convert fseq file into lms, lcb, vir, vix
2) Right click ion the SEQUENCER tab on a model, choose export model.

So if I have a Mega tree and four arches, then I have to export port each one separately?

Option 1 Sean listed does the whole file.  Option 2 is one model per export.

Thank you.  I took Sean's instructions as a two step operation.

Thank you.  I took Sean's instructions as a two step operation.

sorry; two methods for doing export. Either export entire channel setup. NOTE: If you have 100 channels in your arches and 20,000 channels defined in your SETUP tab., method 1 exports 20,000 channels, method 2 exports 100 channels.

This is one reason to not define SETUP with more channels than you actually use. If you want to place arches and megatree in different places in your LOR sequence (like using lcb files), you would export each model and paste.

If your layout has all rgb channels together as a group, then use CONVERT to make your lcb file.
