Dragging an effect
« on: April 24, 2015, 06:22:35 PM »
I added a new feature today where if you click in the middle of an effect where it highlights the whole effect you can drag that effect and it will maintain the current duration.  So both end points move along as you drag.  I don't have it able to drag between rows yet.  I'll try to do that later.  The one thing I noticed as a side effect that's pretty cool is you can now un-magnetize an effect using this drag feature.  The only time you can't un-magnetize with it is when the effect is sandwiched between two other effects because it doesn't allow it to move.

I noticed some other behavior with selections and dragging that we may want to change.  If you drag select a group of effects you can move the entire group by holding down the control or shift key.  I found you can actually click and move a single effect in the group while it's selected if you keep the control or shift key held down.  So in some cases that might be useful but it also could seem confusing when you expect the entire group to move when they are all selected.  Right now the whole group only moves if you grab it by one of the edges.  If you grab an effect in the middle it will move just that one effect.  So I probably either need to allow clicking in the middle to move the entire group.  If you need to move just one that should be done by selecting just one effect.

Normally, I like to try clicking on things to see what they might do, but the lack of UNDO makes it tougher. Is that on the list?

Dragging is welcomed and I agree an undo button would be great.
