Where do I go from here
« on: May 09, 2015, 12:29:12 PM »
Its seems V4 is progressing into the areas that shall give us more options to get the following accomplished

First thanks to you S-Guru's for I am not.

I have been running my shows thru LOR. Coping and pasting a lot of effects created here in NC.

I want to run my shows thru NC I am experiencing some time delays because of the speed of the usb and e131 formats on different lights.

Over all I have a 12 ccr bar tree running on the lor CR150D that has the 6 channel non rgb star, 1 Mega Tree and 10 small trees on 18 Universes talking to E682 and E6804 devices, a couple of arches and some misc lights using the LOR CTB16PC Controllers.

Some of the misc lights are going to be upgraded to E131 format this year and I will be adding some more rgb lights this year.

"Where do I go from here"

Is it possible now to take my .lms file and convert it into the .fseq file all at one time?
My lms files are over 500 megs each

I have attached a .xls file showing the pertinent info.

Your help and guidance would be much appreciated

Thanks
Brad

I neglected to tell you that I am replacing the LOR CR150D with the E682 sandevices.

Thanks
Brad

Just copy the LMS file to a new directory so you know it won't be messed up and try it.  Your bigger task would probably be defining all the models.

Mr Gilrock,

I really like the import feature when it comes to getting my 12 bar ccr info in. But I am have a heckof a time time getting the 6 channels in that control the star.

Right now my LOR controllers are coming off the usb port but I want to change them to dmx.
I have gone back in the lms file and have eliminated everything except the 6 channels for the star.
Does not seem to matter what I do its not working out.

Should I leave them as normal controllers and then make the change to dmx once in xlights or change them in lms file to dmx.

There's at least 4 different ways you could be trying to import data so I'm not sure what you are trying to do and in what way it's not working.

Thanks for getting back to me.

It seems as usually that as soon as I open my mouth I figure things out.

Right now I have left the LOR controllers in under the usb port (non DMX) and made the XL setup using the LOR controllers. And I can then import into an existing sequence, or make a new sequence.

Now "and here I go again" if I want to make the LOR controllers go DMX can I just redefine the setup in XL to DMX and not LOR controllers?

Thanks
Brad

LOR controllers, if they are not really old, will auto-switch to DMX when they see it on their inputs.

That can be the problem, though. If you do switch to DMX, what will be your DMX source? (USB dongle?)

If it is an "industry standard" DMX dongle, the output signal will be on wires #1 and #2 (orange/white and orange)
LOR controllers expect their input to be on wires #4 and #5 (blue/white and blue)
so you need some method to swap the signals to the first LOR controller. It will daisy chain like normal to any follow-on LOR controllers.

For 16 channel LOR  controllers,

Device 1 becomes Channels 1 thru 16
Device 2 becomes Channels 17 thru 32
Device 3 becomes Channels 33 thru 48
etc..

Their 30 channel controllers can really put a wrinkle into the numbering, though.
And I don't know how the CCR/CCB devices address. :(

Good info.
I am going to take the LOR CCR strands to sandevices and not use LOR's CR150's.
