Render issues

After import of superstar sequence it brings everything in perfectly but will not render. It just sits forever and I end up having to terminate the process. See screenshot below....

I believe I fixed it. All my whole house models were deleted from the models tab and I didn't have them added to the sequence but there was some kind of reminisce of them hanging around in the XML file. Went in to notepad and removed the line highlighted below and everything renders and saves fine now.

I am having issues as well, after convert it sits at render and I have to end task.

I may have spoken to soon. It's still freezing on rendering and crashing on save. Strange thing is it doesn't do it every time. I can try the same sequence import 3-4 times and it will render one of them while the other 3-4 times it crashes. Very strange activity.

You have better luck than me. It crashes every time for me. I will send a report later.

If you get the convert part to go through without crashing try saving as rather then clicking render. I had better luck with that then hitting render. Render just seemed to time out.

Harrison I noticed that line you said you deleted and I'm pretty sure that was a Model Group which is different than a whole house model.  It could have been something with having the Model Group and the Whole House Model using the same name and then you deleted the WHM from the sequence.  Probably hard to duplicate.

Yea no clue. I'm still getting crashes and issues with rendering but it's random at this point. Sometimes it converts and renders fine and sometimes it crashes. I can send you the last crash report if that will help.

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately it crashes regardless.

Mine is doing the same but it is saving the file before the crash. I opened the file back up after it crashes and hit render and all the affects show up.

Yeah we save the XML before we render the effects to the sequence data object so there's usually a good chance you still have your sequence when it crashes during the render.  So is it consistently crashing even after you re-open it?  or only after the SuperStar import?

No. Not. For me. Once I have the tree converted, saved, and rendered it works perfectly. Just a little buggy getting it there. It will crash on save, convert, and render. It's random when it happens but once I have it saved and rendered once it's good to go.

Can you make sure there are no effects selected before hitting Save?  (click a blank area)  I found a bug last night where the currently selected effect was being modified during save and in a way that could cause invalid data to be sent to the render routines.

Saving seems to be the trick. If I just hit render after import it crashes almost every time. It will crash on save as well and I have to open task manager and terminate the process and then reopen the sequence and hit render and it seems to work perfectly.
