I'm not at home to double-check how things works but I don't think it's changed recently.  I haven't seen it ask for an XSEQ file since we don't use those anymore.  What are the steps to get that to happen?  I thought we removed the open button from the Preview page.  Normally I open a sequence by selecting an XML file.  Then you goto the Preview tab and hit the lower play button and it should play whatever is in the associated FSEQ file for that sequence.  If it doesn't seem to have everything playing trying hitting Save or the Render All button and then playing it again after it finishes rendering all the effects.

In preview, my v35 shows all the fseq files and if I try to open in the sequencer tab I see all the xml files.  Looks correct to me.  Just installed v35 on my wife's desktop a few minutes ago.

Alrighty then, tried that and the sequence music is correct plays the full 2 minutes and some seconds, however the actual models that should be doing something for those 2 minutes quit after 9 seconds any thoughts, again the xseq works flawlessy, but I can not get the xseq to open in the sequencer hope that makes sense.

I had typed this up and hit send when you replied.  That was one of the things I suggested you check.  Click the grey gear icon to bring up sequence settings to type in the correct duration.

The XSEQ file is the output from xLights version 3.x so yes it will play whatever data you had in it from last year.  That file usually isn't used in the new version unless you were pulling it in as a data layer.   I'm not sure why your models past 9 seconds wouldn't be creating data.  I think I have seen where I started a sequence with song A which was say 2 min long and then I switch to song B which is 3 min long and all my effects stop after 2 minutes as if the size of the FSEQ file gets locked in at whatever original size you start with.  That might be a bug we need to fix.  Not sure how you could end up with 9 seconds.  One thing I'd try is close everything and delete your FSEQ file.  Then reopen the XML file and Save to regenerate the FSEQ data and it should be the correct length.  Double-check the settings dialog to make sure your sequence duration is the right length.  If it was set too short you should see blue cross-hatched lines on the timeline numbers showing where it virtually ends.

To answer an earlier post---the "open" button is still active in the preview window...
