How can I do this effect on my arches
« on: June 10, 2015, 09:21:20 AM »
I am in the process of migrating my sequences from LOR to XL4, starting with my arches.  I generated most of the arch effects in XL3 and then exported them to LOR, so I am just recreating those in XL4, no problem.  But I have a few arch effects that I hand-built in LOR that I would like to recreate as XL4 effects instead of importing them from my LOR sequences.

Look at this this video of one of my sequences, from about 0:43 to 0:57.  Any thoughts on how I can generate this directly in XL4?

I would create a "Single Strand" model that would represent the nodes on all the arches and then stick a left->right "Bars" effect on it.

You can also just create one model and tell it how many arches you have and pixels per arch.
That's the same as Dan's single line method, except visually you get arches instead of a single line.

Once you have an "AllArches" model, apply the single strand chase effect to it and adjust to taste.

So even though my arches are physically setup in an oval, I guess I need put them on my layout as a straight line to achieve the desired result?  I can't figure out how to insert a picture in my post, so go here to see a daytime pic of the side of the house where the arches are.

I had some success creating a group of the 12 arches on the north side (furthest out from the house), and another group with the 12 arches on the south side (closest to the house).  I put the effect on both groups, but ran them in opposite directions.  It is close, but the transitions on the ends where the 2 groups of arches meet don't quite match up exactly.  I may need to upload my xml files if I'm confusing the issue, it's hard to explain it.
