I haven't tried to use Jinx but I did take a quick look at it's spectrum analyzer effect.  It's going to respond across a wide frequency range.  The beats you are looking for should show up in the left side where the lower frequencies reside.  In between the beats you will still see action in the mids and highs.  I kinda like how Brian accomplished this in SuperStar where you could map strings to a selection of frequency ranges so you could make them all respond to only the lows if you wanted.  I think we will eventually have some spectrum analysis capabilities but unless someone else works on it I don't see it happening this year.

Was able to get a somewhat similar function for the verticals I was using.  This wouldn't really work on a matrix, but thought I'd share:

Essentially curtain Open, using repeat and using Green and Red.  Swag speed matched number of beats.  And used repeat

Most of it . I was able to import some of the effects , but not the VU/spectrum effect properly.

Then I got side tracked into doing other stuff ie on the BBB and P10 panels . This is on my to do list and hopefully will get back to it soon.

Bumping...

It sure would be nice to have some kind of spectrum analyzer effect that uses the audio that correlates to the timing of the effect. I know that Gled/Jinx can do the effects, but trying to get the sync right is anything but easy.
