Importing SUP sequence
« on: July 18, 2015, 12:50:49 AM »
I was importing a Superstar sequence I purchased from Brian,  and this bud report was generated. I created a new sequence (Wizards in winter) the audio imported fine. I have 4 circles (each circle is 2 arches together, 1 is inverted). This is how Brian created them 1a, 1b, 2a, 2b etc. I made the circles a group and imported the effects. then the crash report is generated and Xlights shuts down. I am probably doing something wrong, I am a fairly new LOR convert.

I've done many SUP imports but none with the arches/circles.  If you want to send me that SUP (don't post it here) I can take a look  ocjeepguy@gmail.com is my address. I won't use this sequence other than for troubleshooting and user help and possibly even the user manual that is in the works.

Cheers,
Steve

Did you try creating single models and importing it that way?  Just a thought

The SUP import today is only for CCR Trees. I tried to cheat and make a 4 strand tree with 150 pixels per strand and that did not work either.  If you do have a license to export that to LMS, it could be brought in as a data layer. I'll forward to the SUP to Gil for further analysis.

Importing superstar files is going to be a challenge, if not impossible, unless they are specific (trees, etc.). All of my files use visualizer mode, not ccr mode. While this functionality is there, it has never worked right and probably won't since in Superstar there are no boundaries.

Personally, the data layer is the best option.

Well I actually think you could import the arches in theory but there's a catch.  Brian represents four arches as a 50x4 matrix.  So his morph definitions can cross the arch boundaries.  Sometimes there is one morph that goes across all 4 arches.  So if you define your arch channels as a single matrix then it basically becomes the same as a tree import.  I haven't tried it but it should work.

Hi Gilrock, can you give a little more detail, I don't quite understand. Do you mean all four circles as 1 matrix or 1 circle as a matrix? and are they vertical or horizontal matrices? I'm not a very experienced xlights user. Thanks in advance. I did try exporting from SUP to LOR to get a lms file but it wasn't quite the same outcome, it didn't look quite the same. it could be close enough but I would prefer to get a more accurate sequence.

Actually importing an LMS version of the file as a data layer is the most accurate.  If you use my SuperStar import it just gets you close.  Everything in SuperStar is represented as a single matrix.  So if you figure out the size it's represented in SuperStar you can create a matrix model that size and import onto it.  I can't help much more without knowing how it's represented.  My guess is it's 8 arches so you probably need a 50x8 matrix.
