Floating windows missing
« on: July 20, 2015, 09:50:42 PM »
Hello all!
I am using the newest update and last week I was at home and had my laptop set up with a second monitor. I had put the floating windows (Effects, Model preview, house preview, etc.) on the second monitor and saved it as a perspective. I am not at home this week and don't have a second monitor and now I can't find these windows at all... Is there a way to force them to open in the default docked position in the main window.

Thanks all!

Open up a sequence and select "view - perspectives - edit/load".  This will bring up the perspective window.  Double click on "default perspective" and that should reset all of the windows back to factory original location.

Nothing appears to happen. I think that window is opening and closing on the second display still...
I reinstalled the software but it didn't change.

I would think that when there is no external monitor connected that the software would automatically put the floating windows back into the main window?

Thanks

We didn't really write that part of the software.  It's using the AUI tools from wxWidgets.

Try this.  Backup your xlights_rgbeffects.xml file.  Then open it up and delete the entire Perspectives section at the bottom.  It should recreate it to defaults when you reopen the program.
