Effects Preset import issue
« on: July 25, 2015, 02:41:09 PM »
I tried to import my 3.x effects presets into XL4.13.  The labels show up but the Preset doesn't work.  I watched the Video on its use and I've got an old preset in the favorites group that does work.  If I look the the difference between the one that doesn't work and the one that works (in the Xlights_rgbeffects.xml file) the only apparent difference in structure is the Version = "number".  for the one that works its 0004 and for the imported one's its 0000.

see attached

The version changes when it imports.  That file only has 1 preset so it doesn't look like it contains anything that's not working.

I sent the wrong file...see screen shot of preset window and the Xlight_rgbeffects.xlm

I think you will see the Effects Presets in the .xml file, but other than the first one " BLUE RED BLUE" I can't get them to work.

Make sure the timing where you are trying to insert is equal or greater than the saved effects.  I have noticed in the past that if I try to insert a saved preset effect into the grid and the current timing is shorter, it won't show up.  Makes it look like it isn't working.  In that case, I'll move to a grid cell that is longer in duration, insert the effect, then just move it over to where I want it and shorten up the timing to match and change the effect settings if needed.

Can you attach the original version of the file so I can see what happens when it tried to convert it?

Gil,   I just fixed a bug in this this morning.   It was setting the "version" attribute on the element prior to checking if the version was too old.  Thus, it may work for you if you're using the latest code.

Just a heads up!

I checked the timing length and it doesn't appear to be the issue.

In review, did Dan fix this and it will appear in the next update?
