Last year vs this year 2015
« on: August 04, 2015, 04:39:40 PM »
I was playing with the Channel Remap function on the FPP driving my P10 display. As P10s go, it isn't huge at 9 panels but at 96 pixels by 48 pixels at 3 channels per pixel, it uses more channels than all of last year.

So, using the Remap function, I transposed everything starting at channel 1 up to channel 16385.

Now, I can actually display my whole yard on the one panel. Last year I used most of 25 DMX universes and my P10 panel will display 27 universes, so it all fits. The colors are jumbled and make only a little sense, but it is great perspective.

Hello Jon,

I did not understand what you meant by the post. What was the advantage in using the Remap function ie why did it make a difference to what you had to display (ie instead of defining the panels as a Hor matrix with the new channel numbers)?

(I had seen an example/post of someone on the falcon forum using the remap to display a game score with different quadrants of information)

Gerry, there isn't an advantage, per se. It was just a way to graphically display my 2014 fseq sequences (channels 1 thru 12000) on a P10 display capable of showing 13000+ channels. (27 DMX universes, baby)

It also showed the usefulness of the Remap function.

But mostly, it just looks cool. :)

Yes, by letting the BBB / FPP shift all those channels, I didn't have to open and resave, or change the Start Channel on my P10 matrix (which isn't that tough, really).

The hardest part will be remembering to undo the Remap when I wonder why it won't work normally. :(
