Audio question
« on: April 09, 2014, 09:48:39 AM »
Connected my FM transmitter to the Falcon Pi to check  how audio sounded in a vehicle.  To my amateur ears it sounded flat.  I know Sean uses a Behringer 302USB prior to the transmitter. Can the Behringer shape the audio enough to make it 'brighter'?

Sean I use the EDM xmtr also.  Do you find it to be flat and lacking character?

There can be several factors for "flat" sounding audio.  The original recording, your car stereo's settings, the transmitter, the volume of the audio going into the transmitter - just to name a few.  Although in this case, I doubt it's the transmitter.  The EDM transmitters have filtering which definitely "clean" up the sound from the Pi.  We did a side by side transmitter test at the last Denver Mini.  My FM02 picks up some interference and the sound is "warbled" from the Pi.  PK (my dad) is working on a solution, but I digress.

EQ'ing may help.  Compression does help.  Filtering the audio to the frequency response of the transmitter will help.

If I may ask, what were you listening to?

Thanks for the response.  I was listening on a multi speaker suv.  I tried tweaking the car tone controls, but was not impressed with the results.  I am using a pair of Altec Lansing  computer speakers (BXR1220) in the computer room and they sound bright and crisp.  I just expected something comparable in the car.

Is there possible interference from other radio stations?  Are there power lines near by?
