converting sequences
« on: August 17, 2015, 03:48:48 AM »
When trying to convert a sequence it xlights gets to "reading the vixen sequence" and freezes.  I have tried several sequences and am not getting results. Any help to correct this.
Thanks
Terry

Can u attach a small box file that doesn't work? We can see if we can duplicate the issue

I am not sure what you are asking. I am just using one of my vixen 2.1 sequences and putting into the convert part of xlights.

Hi, Would you mind explaining the steps you are doing ?
For example - u create a new musical sequence , and move past screens a , b c etc.
Then Click on Settings, Sequence settings , Data layers and then Import ? then you select your file and then it hangs ?

Pretty sure that Sean's phone changed vix to box. A small vix file.

I open XL, click on convert. choose file for for vixen sequence, put in that sequence, then for the output format I choose xlights and click convert. I am not creating or sequencing in xlights. I am converting vixen sequences to xlights.

What version of xlights are you using? Like Sean requested, you may need to post a small file, for example, just a few seconds of a sequence.

What is your goal for this? Perhaps we can tell you a better way.  I tried a convert and it worked fine for me. It took 10 minutes, maybe just let it sit for a while.

Vixen files are one of the easiest formats to convert.  It shouldn't take 10 minutes for a single file.    That concerns me.

Well, it did. It took 30 seconds to read, 9 minutes for the write. This is 31000 channels.

Not sure what you converted. The sequence I posted is 264 channels. Are you talking about something else here?

Sorry, I didn't notice that you posted something. I converted something I had.

Yours converted in about 3 seconds, no issues.

What version are you using?
