Have no idea how Kevin rocketed through his !

I was half assing it.   ::)

I fixed the timing of jokes2 yesterday evening after the initial post in the morning.  Both files have now been split into two lyric tracks, one for each monster, and updated on the original posts.  Anyone who downloaded them might want to get the latest file for the corrections from my original postings on page 1 of this thread.

It says "updated on the original posts" so use the links in his earlier post.

Now that 'hanging' - u sure that that does not occur when you convert the first phrase (or thereabouts) , because there will be several several seconds (on my laptop was > 30 secs I think) whilst it loads the dictionaries (that it looks like it is locked)  - then it is fine for that xl session.

I did one sentence at a time and did once voice , then the other.

Have no idea how Kevin rocketed through his !

For the second one , am a bit faster now.

Just take your time !

Watch Dan's videos again - link on the Wiki under Tutorials

It wasn't just a long pause. Quite often the program would just crash to the desktop with no sign of a crash report and other times it would hang for a long time, as in I left it for 5 mins on one occasion and it would not repond until I did a force quit. When I saw that you had done one, I downloaded your xml file, and started editing to fit the jokes3 mp3 and so I edited the first phrase and it rendered and saved fine. Unfortunately I had already spent most of last night trying to figure out why it was hanging and crashing so hopefully now I can make progress on the Jokes sequence this weekend. It will be a really good way to get to know this new papagayo. feature.

I noticed that when you create the timing tracks for the Lyrics ie Lyrics1 and Lyrics2 (as Empty)

- they do not get automatically added to all the views - is that deliberate ?

- when I  added them manually to a view (ie via the Edit Display Elements), - in my case Lyrics2 appeared above Lyrics1 in the list and in the view and

- I could not switch them around using the Move Up / Move Down keys as they would not move.

I ended up deleting and adding back and renaming them etc etc with different names until I got them in the right sequence.

As of 4.2.1 adding a timing track should add it to all the views?  Tell me how you are trying to do it that isn't working.

Hello Gil,

As below :
(I just retested)
Close xl instance.
Open xl,
Create a new seq via icon , select musical sequence and required media (ie Jokes6.mp3), select 20fps, then on the next screen that has the "import data (optional) " stuff , click on timings tab at the top of the screen.
Click on New , select Empty  , Ok. Double click on Empty and rename to Lyrics1, . Repeat ie click New, select empty and rename to  Lyrics2.  Click Done.

Click on Sequencer tab
Select "All elements" View.
All the models and "New timing" is shown in view . No lyrics1 and Lyrics2.

I am sure that when I did this for Bars and Beats timings (for my manual documentation sequences) last week it was fine.

Also - I assume that this functionality is only when u create new sequences ie if u open an existing sequence which already had timing marks created prior to this change , u still have to manually add them in go the views , cause I still had to add manually for all the other previous ones.

Let me know if u need any of the existing  rgbeffects files that I am using as they are the ones from Dan for the jokes.

Wow.  You guys are awesome!   I definitely wasn't expecting things this fast.  I likely won't have time to look at them till Sunday or so, but the response from you guys is amazing.  Major major thanks!

Gerry,

We probably should have started another thread to discuss the timing but too late.  I'm pretty sure if you create the sequence and then open sequence settings and add your timing tracks it will work.  Sounds like only a problem when trying to add them before the sequence is created.  I really hate all that functionality.  It's a pain in my butt trying to deal with letting you add things to a sequence that doesn't exist yet and has been the cause of many issues.  I have to have special logic all over the place that checks whether the sequence exists and if not I have to do a completely different set of code to try to store the stuff you want added to the sequence once it does exist.  See I never create anything from the new sequence wizard so I never hit these problems.  I'll look into fixing this but the workaround is just don't try to create the world before the sequence is established.

Hi Gil,

If I understand you correctly, when creating a new sequence , I should Save it first with a name and then add the timings ?

If you don't use the new sequence wizard , what do you do when you create a new sequence ?

Perhaps the new sequence wizard could be changed to have the Save as file name as part of the dialogue (there is already the don't create sequence button there for those u wish not to do so)
and in which case the timing tab could be added as part of the flow. That screen which has all the icons for all the other sequencers - am guessing that most people skip past that most of the time ?

Attached is the xml for Jokes 6

The functionality is very nice to use. Thanks Dan and Gil !
It is sufficiently close to Papagayo so that people who have used that previously (I only learnt that a few weeks ago) know what to do , but different in that you can do one or a few phrases at a time or all, change bit and pieces and update , delete and replace words (helped me when I had to 'correct' what I had for the jokes), move and adjust stuff , do multiple voices , being able to have one face 'share' the words of the other face ! Awesome ! (and I have only used what I saw on the videos - am sure there is more)

maybe we can get "This is Halloween" from Nightmare before Christmas? It is awesome having people become skilled and the fact that your work can be shared.

What other songs might we get our volunteers to create?

ghostbusters
monster mash
?
