Error when trying to move models in layout screen Xl 4.2.2

Small irritating bug...

When trying to move models around the layout screen in 4.2.2.
Every time I click on a model, or part of, I am getting :-

19:31:13: Couldn't retrieve information about list control item 9.
19:31:13: Couldn't retrieve information about list control item 9.
19:31:13: Couldn't retrieve information about list control item 0.
19:31:13: Couldn't retrieve information about list control item 0.
19:31:13: Couldn't retrieve information about list control item 0.

Doing the same in 4.2.1 works with no error....

All single models, and majority of single channel, and no model groups set up.......

Can close the error box and carry on but it pops up on each click.....

In the layout window, after you clear the error message, do you click the Save choice (right under Model).

That "should" rewrite your model data and clear the error.

I just clicked through 15 different models and never got an error like that. Some were single channel.

Hi

Just did a clean install of 4.2.2 and tried that. (Had gone back to 4.2.1 as was stable for me..)
Still get the error, but initially on the 3rd move!!, then every time after.

Tried a save and error came up on next click...... So no change

Gone back to 4.2.1 again (and using same model file) and no errors!!!!!
Thought originally it was my model file, but it is OK on 4.2.1 so kind of rules that out???

Yeah but it's his changing causing it.  We warned him to be prepared for bug reports and new feature requests...

Nah -- I doubt that it affected many people. And reading your explanation , an easy mistake to make. Just blame testing :)

I have since used Morph quite a bit this last few days , but even if I had noticed anything wrong , I would have just blamed myself and adjusted it. It is good though , that someone was intricate enough to notice it now.

As I am a newbie just used Morph last night.... Typical...  LOL

At least you spotted it and worked it out....  That's the main thing...
As I was told a while ago, if you don't get some things wrong then you are not actually doing anything.....


As an aside the original bug report is still prevalent in 4.2.3
I know that wasn't addressed under this rev but just for info...

Going to work with 4.2.3 as the morph issue is sorted.

Please forgive me for jumping in here, but I'm gettting this "Couldn't retrieve information about list control item 0." as well.  Click "OK" and the message goes away, but move a model on the screen and it comes right back.

Anything you can send my way to stop this?

FYI - Already tried:  removed xLights, including deleting the directory.  Installed 4.2.3 - August 22,2015.
Try to move a model and here it is again.

Real hard trying to learn when the program is being persnickety.

Try to move a model and here it is again.

Real hard trying to learn when the program is being persnickety.
Try this, click on any model from your list only then you click on the model you want to move on the layout.
It worked for me.

Not sure why, but it is working now.
I had shut down X/N and was headed to a horizontal position (very long day) when your message popped up.
Restarting X/N I clicked on one of the models in the list, then moved it on the layout.  It worked.
After that, I didn't have to click on ANY item in the list, but could move the models as I believe we should.

Thanks for the tip/work-around.  I'll use it very often.

We are working on a fix for this bug. "Couldn't retrieve info on item ...", next 1 to 2 days
