v.4.2.3 adding models in sequencer tab.
« on: August 22, 2015, 05:26:37 PM »
Having issues with adding my models to the sequencer tab.  In the past version I had, I simply right click in the sequencer area, and added the models.  I'm not able to bring up any table with v.4.2.3.  Don't know if this is a bug or me being an idiot.  This is a brand new sequence, not one that I've previously worked on.

Anyone else seen this?

Hi Duane

If you get stuck on anything else, you can check the FAQ on the Wiki here.  The link to the Wiki is on the grey menu bar just to the right of HOME that is probably highlighted. There are answers to commonly asked questions there.  Feel free to keep reaching out for other things you may get stuck with.

Hello Duane,

Could you kindly check what the manual says ? I did it describe it there including where to right lick , but if it is not clear enough, then would like to correct it. It is difficult sometimes articulating stuff clearly, which you happen to know.

Edit: Unless it is a one off, you should consider adding the models to a View (not the master view) , because then when u select the view in any sequence it is there and in the right position.

A thanks for this topic, was at a loss in the latest version to find any models.

However, once I added some models to the default timing track.. CRASH.. BOMB..  BANG..

Alan no more whining about crashes unless your going to provide your xlights_rgbeffects.xml file.

It was probably a known issue with not having anything besides the default original timing track.  I was able to get playing with your new effect, add models etc with an older sequence that had multiple imported timing tracks.

Will start of thread if I have other issues playing.

Ok well the main thing I would check is that you don't have models stuck in there that don't exist anymore due to deletions or renames. I think we've fixed the bugs that would cause that situation but any older rgbeffects files might need manual cleanup.

Gil,
I am having some issues with this also.  I can find some of the models that didn't get deleted, but not all.  Where is the best place I can find them (rgbeffects?) so that I can manually delete them?
On an unrelated note, all of my models are brought in in alphabetical order.  Is there a way to bring them in in numerical order or some saved order?
Thanks as always.  Got one song sequenced over the weekend and it feels great!

- rgbeffects . Open in notepad++ or Wordpad.

backup first.

- Create a view and add model groups (or models if u must) to the view. You can move them up or down as you wish. You only have to do this once as the order is then retained for all sequences.
Groups are better cause then if you double click on the group it opens up the models under it and double click again to close them.

You can create as many views as u want.

Note - the Master view is special , so use a View that you have created .

When you open a sequence we will tell you if there are any models that don't exist and the dialog will allow you to reassign or delete them.  So you usually only need to look at the Views in the rgbeffects file and make sure they don't call out any models that don't exist.
