« on: September 01, 2015, 11:15:46 PM »
I am just starting out in pixelnet and still have hundreds of single channel DMX lights to program.
sorry i am new to nutcracker but i have not seen a easy way to program single channels

Is there a way to add single DMX channel Effects like   ramp on / ramp off, sparkle shimmer?

thank you

You need to create models so I would recommend you group a lot of the channels into one or more models so that you can drop an effect on the top level model to control them all at once if needed or you can drill down to the node level when you want to control a single channel.  It will help in this case to name your nodes.  All effects can go onto a single channel or tons of channels it just depends on what level you drop them at.  If at the node level they will go onto one channel or three if its defined as an RGB node.  The On effect is where you do the ramping up and down.  Once you lay down timing marks you can highlight cells and use the U and D hotkeys I believe it is for the up and down ramps.

I have a bunch of older DMX single channel items, but they generally are part of a group. Like my Reindeer. There are 10 of them, so I use a single color model (white) with a length of 10. In the model properties, I can make it display a "larger" icon but it isn't reindeer shaped.

Sounds like you need to lookup how to draw a custom model.

JohnB  I have 9 reindeer that are LED ran off of an LOR controller.  I created my XL/NC model in Excel.  Then, created a new custom model in NC.  Then I copy/past from Excel into the custom model screen. I can then overlay effects onto the model like, the the bars effect.  It gives the appearence of a chase... I select the colors black and white, and it comes out like a simple chase.

Thanks. I considered doing that but got lazy. You've made me reconsider.  Thanks.

I am still struggling with my DMX channels.

if i drop the butterfly effect on my 16 channel Weber tree, the will blink fine
if i drop the (on) effect on the same tree it will NOT light up.
even if i drop the (on) on each node the channels do not turn on

but they work under the Test tab, and work with a different effect.

i have several DMX channels the need to be 100% power on and off devices that can not be dimmed

but the on and off effect does not seem to work for me.

i am using 4.2.17

thanks for your help

a added note, it dose not even light up in the house review window when using the On effect.

nor does it light up when i manually turn on each node individually.

If you are using single channel (single color) nodes, then you have to set the color for the effect the same as the color for the string or white, or that element won't turn on.
