xLights installation
« on: September 09, 2015, 04:27:30 AM »
Windows:

It would appear that due to a change in software monitoring on my work supplied laptop , I am being prevented from executing the xLights_Nutcracker_4-2_8.exe install file to install the software.

So , if I was to install the software on my home computer , could I then copy out the contents of the default install directory eg c:\program files\xlights\* etc and after deleting what is in the same directory of the work laptop , replace what I have on the laptop (which is currently at 2_7)  with the copied stuff , or does it also update things like the registry as part of the install process ?

Otherwise , I will have to carry two laptops to work and back , which will be a pain,  or not use my train commute/ lunch time/free time etc  as effectively.

U should be able to just copy the xlights.exe. U could also zip up the programFiles(86)/xlights directory and unzip. The install script makes an entry in the registry so that u can do an uninstall prob not needed
