Several XL crashes today
« on: September 09, 2015, 02:07:48 PM »
Was running 4.2.5 today and was experiencing several crashes, so I started saving frequently. Attached one crash report.  In each case, I was adding several fade up and down effects. Was about 80% done with this model, when I noticed that a fade up/down that was using blue as color was displaying as white.  I deleted and re-add, added to other models, same situation. Blue or any color displayed as white.  I installed 4.2.7 - same thing.
Now I am seeing some odd keyboard issues where I highlight an effect and can not delete it (even if I select a range of cells). I can finally delete effect if I select the end mark of effect. Either way, the ON effect is only showing white.  Now for all the other fade up/down before this started are displaying correctly, but going forward all future fade up/down are showing as white.

update: also noticing that copy/paste is not working for me at this time.

Are you Windows, Mac, or Linux?

By the way 4.2.8 is the latest so not sure why you tried 4.2.7.

Windows, Gil.  That was typo - yes used 4.2.8 - was on 4.2.5 when the problem started, then upgraded.

Well the crash looks like it happened on a SetBrush call.  I know there is some threading mutex logic around the brush selections but Dan is the expert on why it's there.  The number of threads in the debug report is higher than I think I've seen which seems odd.  If you select a block of cells does it highlight any effects in that range as pink?  If so then it should be able to delete them.  I can't help more till I have time to load your files.

yes I can highlight some cells but it is not consistent when copy, paste or deleting.  Some models, it works fine but the one I was working on with the fade up and down, I can not copy/paste like I did before.
