Embedded Papagayo enhancements
« on: September 21, 2015, 03:33:00 PM »
I just finished a song using the new embedded FACE features.  The software works awesome but I have a few ideas to make it even better.

1) Have  a system setting that automatically breaks out phrases as you enter them.  This would avoid the need to keep righ-clicking to initiate for every phrase.  Maybe  a system switch that is either on or off for those that don't want them automatically re-done when editing or entering the main phrase.
2) I played with the "AUTO" feature for the eyes.  I'm not quite sure what it's supposed to do but maybe either have it randomize the eyes at the time of playing or possibly link eye movements to specific phoenomes.  I suppose a work around is that you could map eyes for each phoenome manually but I think random would be better.
3) Maybe I'm not seeing it but if you select a time slice on the top row, it would be really awesome to have guide bars down to the bottom so you can see if you are aligned.  It only highligths the wavform.  Normal effects are not that critical but when you are adusting the text and phoenomes, it would be very helpful

Thats it.  Other than that is it some really nice coding.

For #1 you really don't need to breakdown every phrase individually.  The way I designed it I expected you to enter all your phrases and align the endpoints then you right click on the row heading and select "Breakdown Phrases" and it handles all of them all in one operation.  The same with breaking down word.  Align all the words for the entire sequence and then you can select "Breakdown Words" from there and it handles all the words in one operation.  The ability to right-click on a single phrase or word and break it down stand-alone was really intended as a mechanism to be able to make corrections later.  The one thing I know is missing is ability to cut and paste.  We have an issue with not being able to cut and paste in the timings area that needs to be solved.

Cut and paste would have helped me.  I had a sequence from last year that was all out of sync and I couldn't figure out why.  Turns out I had used a different song version that had the first 5.5 seconds truncated.  My solution was to dump the timing txt file to excel and subtract 5.5 seconds from the start and end of each time slice, then re-import.  Worked beautifully but a cut/paste would have been much easier.

The auto eyes tries to have it blink roughly every 5 seconds (with some randomness) on rest effects.   It also tries to not have it blink at the very first frame of the rest effect either.
