Wave effect export to HLS
« on: May 04, 2014, 06:57:42 PM »
Hi All....

I posted this over on DIYC and after little response I thought I'd post here and see if anyone is experiencing a similar result...

Let me preface by saying I did get a response from Joe and he seems to think something might have changed in XL/NC and said it's an XL/NC issue and not an HLS issue....

I don't know enough about either program to isolate the issue so I've sort of hit the proverbial brick wall...

Here's what I posted on DIYC...:

I watched the video and love the new wave effect. I copied precisely the settings Sean used in the video, tweaked a bit, and got a great looking wave effect for my MT. It works fine in XL/NC but when I export it to HLS it will not play.

When I drop the exported model with the wave effect into HLS for my MT, the effects on either side (before and after the wave effect) play perfectly but when the sequence gets to the wave effect the display (MT) goes dark...as in zero pixels on..... Once I get past the wave effect my follow-on effects work perfectly.

In the past with issues between NC effects and HLS, Joe has said that he simply takes what comes out of NC and drops it into HLS with no conversions or wizardry of any kind on the part of HLS.

I've also noticed that some animated gifs that work fine in XL/NC will not play properly when I drop them into HLS.... So there appears to be some sort of miscommunication or incomplete 'handshake' between XL/NC and HLS.

Has anyone else run into this issue?

I've included my settings for the effect below...in hopes that Sean can take a look and maybe try to duplicate the issue if he still has HLS handy to export to..... If it matters my MT is 64 strings of 60 pixels/string.

If this is some kind of "it can't be fixed" thing I can live with it....but I sure would love to be able to use the new wave effects....

Thanks... SC

can you make sure "Part of My Display" is checked in the models you are using?

Can you post your xlights_rgbeffects.xml file ?

thanks

The "Part of My Display" is checked.... The model (MT) works before and after the wave effect.....in this case I was only using the 1 model...MT for all effects....

xligths_rgbeffects.xml attached...

THanks....

Yeah buddy!   3.3.8 fixed the wave effect......

Thanks Sean.....you keep this up and you'll force me to say something good about high woodwind players!  ....  And you know that is true appreciation considering that it comes from a low brass guy.... LOL

At the race for cure (breast cancer awareness) we have about 60k participants. The vfw band plays. It is the only performance where the conductor puts a microphone next to me so that the piccolo part is louder on Stars and Stripes!

Btw, there is a video link on my page describing the Memorial Day service at fort Logan. Www.nutcracker123.com/nutcracker/fort_logan. Video is of "The Thunderer" by Sousa.

Oh cool.... I love playing JPS.....I played 4 years in the Air Force Band....that's where I ran into my first power 'pic picker'; a gristly old Master Sergeant who had a 'set' of pipes....  We would bring him out front and stand him by the conductor on the trio of Stars and Stripes.....he could wow an audience.....and bring them to their feet.....beat anything I ever saw.

But boy.....you guys seating 4 pics is intimidating!  LOL....funny how something so small can sit on top and be heard over all the brass.  Cool stuff....

You have a tuba player too.....dude can 'pop' those runs....he's providing you a good bass line...

Wish I was close enough to come try out....  :'(
