Missing Models
« on: September 23, 2015, 12:49:43 PM »
For my Halloween setup, I wanted a quick way to address all my RGB effects (not nodes but things like floods) and be able to apply an effect to all of them.  I created a Model Group and added all the Elements that had RGB components.  I then made that model available to my sequence display.  I applied effects and it works great.  When I save, it seems to save fine.  The proble is when I go back into the sequence, I get messages for a bunch of my elements that says:  "Could not find a model or group names...". It then proceeds to list a whole bunch of models and elements.  Most of which are not even in my sequence at all.

Any ideas?

What does "go back into the sequence" really mean i.e. did you exit the program or just close the sequence and reopen without leaving the program.  When you create the models did you hit the Save button on the Layout tab?  If you exited the program did you hit Save when it asked if you wanted to save model changes?

What version are you using?  I had this issue MANY versions ago and it was fixed.

I'm using 4.2.8.  I have tried all combinations.  I have saved both the models and the sequence.  I've exited and restarted XL several times.   It appears that if I open a sequence, I can actually PLAY it fine.  If I try to click on any cell or a tming bar, that is when I get the plethora of pop-ups telling me the models or elements can't be found.  I have also checked that all elements are part of at least one group whether or not I have all the groups checked.

Can't look at this right now but you can use Notepad++ to delete the names of those models in your rgbeffects.xml file.

It sounds like you added models and then sequenced them and saved the sequence but then never actually saved the models file so when you reopen the sequence it will say those models don't exist.

I made some changes and now it works.  Seems like it had something to do with. "Part of my display" not being checked on one model and that model in an active model group.

Well if I get my way next year there will be no "part of my display" checkbox.  There should be a way to eliminate it.  I want to look into how it's used to see if it could have caused all this trouble for you.
