DMX Bridged Outputs

I have searched the board for the answer to this question and did not find it, so I will ask:

Can the universe/channels for dmx originating from a "bridged dmx output" on a E1.31 controller (Pixcon16) be anywhere in the order typed into the setup tab in xLights?

I thought I had seen a post which said the DMX channels must come before you start E1.31--but could have been under a topic of converting sequences or dongles or something else.

I want to place the Universes and channels associated with the "bridged outputs" DMX devices at the end, not beginning of my setup in xLights.

I am not converting any sequences, nor using any dongles.

Check Yes or No.

Charles, since you say "No Dongles" then all of your output is E1.31. You'll have no COM entries except for Dongles.

Your actual E1.31 devices are then "bridging" out to DMX.  xLights doesn't need to know and it doesn't care.

So stupid question here---could I use something like the DIYLEDexpress E1.31 bridge?  I want to go to bridged DMX in 2016.   If I got Jon's feedback right, the answer is a resounding "yes".

There are people who are successfully outputting DMX from COM port dongles. There are even more people who are having problems with it. Lag introduced by the USB interface, primarily. Too much data overloading the dongle.

If you have access to an E1.31 Bridge to give you DMX output, you will avoid that problem. Even LOR realized that 4 years ago when they finally introduced E1.31 output. Ethernet can handle the traffic better than any USB device.

There are Pixel controllers (E1.31 based) that also include a "Bridge" essentially free of charge. For example, the Falcon F16-V2 has E1.31 input and can Bridge four different universes of DMX out of four RJ-45 jacks.
