Preview screen not working correct
« on: September 26, 2015, 07:21:01 PM »
v4.2.1

I have the sequencer open on my laptop and the windows all open on my 2nd monitor.  The house preview seems to always work but the model preview screen is sketchy at best.  Often when I click on a model within the sequence, I get a dotted rectangle on the preview screen which doesn't represent anything that I can tell.
Often, it doesn't even go away when I click the green gear, nor when I click the save sequence.

Other times when the preview screen is actually previewing the model I have highlighted, when I click on another model, it doesn't change.

Can I do something to change this behavior?

Oh yea, and they are so dim, they are hard to see.  And while I am at it, clicking the green gear most time takes about 10 seconds to clear.  Is this normal?

In summary, the House Preview is too dim to see and the model preview doesn't switch as I change models.  Pretty much not usable at this point.  BTW, I only have 21 Groups open in the sequencer, no individual models.

I could be wrong , but I think from your description , you are working with groups and therefore what is being shown is the group.

Try double clicking on the group name in the sequencer. It should expand and show you the models of the group. Select a model. that should play in the model preview window.

Are the effects all at the group level or are the model level ?  The 'Green gear' renders everything ie all models for your entire seq and therefore   a few secs is very good . Another sequencer that I used last year took a few minutes.. :)

You can also use the layout screen and play there. Render all/Save first

Gerry,

I am working with groups, but I have them expanded and I am clicking on an individual model within the group and it doesn't come up in model preview.  None of them do--I just get this dot, dot, dot thing going on. in the model preview window.  Doesn't matter if the effect is at the model or group level.  This is all white light only trees--just white LEDs-not RGB.

I just went to the layout tab and played the sequence there.  It is much brighter than the other way.  I thought there was a brightness adjustment somewhere for this????

Have you tried putting the individual models into a view and see if they work that way.  I really don't use groups much and everything works fine.

Wrapping up for the night now, but will try it tomorrow.  I built all the groups today and just moved all of them over to the sequence to see if working in groups would be fast or slow.

Did you select a white color for the effect ? Also try dropping the effct on the model rather than group.

If that works , then there is an option on the group ie minimal grid. Not sure if changing to that if not already makes a diff.

There is a bright mess level on the layoiut screen. Not at my computer so can't remember where exactly.

Gerry,

The dim-ness I am talking about is on in-between songs segments when I use a dark blue look just to keep lights on, but not give anything away about what is coming up next.

Tell me how these brightness controls work:

1)Layout tab/Model dialog/at the bottom is a "Model Brightness Adjustment" which defaults to center "O"
and if you click "Appearance" at the bottom you get a dialog box which has a "Preview Brightness" which
   defaults to center "100"
2)Color tab also has a brightness which defaults to off/left of center at "100"

How do you use these?
