Auto Faces Questions
« on: October 01, 2015, 04:17:02 AM »
I looked in the manual and did some forum searches. It might be in there, but I am missing it.

Using Auto Faces in a sequence. The Auto Face effect is changing colors with each syllable change. Neat, but not what I want.

Also I want the random or auto blink on the eyes. That is not happening either.

Not necessarily a Auto Face question, but can I fade the "Face" in and out? Not really wanting it to either stay on or just pop up either.

We'll I'll be listening in just in case someone know what Auto Faces does cause I sure don't.  I never touched Papagayo stuff before adding the new capability.  All I know how to do is create the different pictures and map them to each phoneme so that you get exactly what you want when each phoneme occurs.

When I was working on the new definitions for the faces was when I first discovered the rendered face things.   I didn't know it existed either.  :-)    I pretty much left that code completely alone as I wasn't sure what it did.   However, looking real quick, I see:

Code: [Select]

    ColorIdx=rand() % colorcnt; // Select random numbers from 0 up to number of colors the user has checked. 0-5 if 6 boxes checked
    palette.GetHSV(ColorIdx, hsv);
    hsv.hue = (float)Phoneme/10.0;
    hsv.value=1.0;

so a random color  is chosen, but only the "saturation" value is used from it and then the phoneme is used for the hue.   Yea.  That's strange.   For the other face definitions, the first color in the palette is the mouth, the second is for the eyes, and the third is for the outline.   Should we make the autofaces match?

It's a neat effect, but not sure I personally would want it jumping colors. Looking at the other different models, I personally like them to stay the same color.

I'm just wondering why you are using auto-faces. Do you already have the work done in Papagayo?

No. I don't have it already done in Papagayo ...until just a few minutes ago ;-)
Just finished. Have to go back and tweak some of the syllables but everything looks pretty good. However, I can't get auto faces to do RED only. I can get it to do white only, but nothing else. It just blinks a different color with each change. Also, some words drop out on breaking words down. So it looks like...and is...skipping a word or two. I think it has to do with " " .

If quotes are a problem which I think I've heard before I'd add it to Github.  There's so many things going on I'd love to think I can remember but unless I'm at my pc coding I'll probably forget to do it later.

When I was working on the new definitions for the faces

Hi Dan,
Are you able to do a short video on the new options that were recently added ?

Hi Robert,

I tried out and documented the Coro face and matrix functionality, but not auto faces .

So by selecting auto faces , what did you use it for , was there any other  attribute that you used and what was the final result ?

ie "what does auto faces do" "and how do you use it "

Gerry I will be honest with you. I had to use "Rendered" on the effect setting when I dropped the "Faces" effect in. Just setting it on Auto Faces didn't work. So maybe I am calling it something different than I should?  Honestly I am just hacking to get it done. The default face looking fine for what I was doing. I could not get the colors to work right for me. So I just choose white. That worked :-)

Not sure if I would be the best one to get the steps for the manual ;-)  Be happy to help though anyway I can though.

Ok, so you are using the Faces effect in the Sequencer tab, not Auto-Faces from the Papagayo tab, right? The Papagayo tab is all pretty obsolete at this point, UNLESS you have some work done in the standalone Papagayo application that you want to bring in. If not, then you can get much better results using matrix Faces using the built-in Papagayo functions in xLights.
