import not working for xml - SOLVED
« on: October 01, 2015, 09:21:19 PM »
I tried to import an xml file created by another xl user so that I could create a mapping file, but I get nothing but a black screen.  The models in the import file do not show up.  Is this function working?  Or is it another one of those planned for items?

All I can say is I looked and there is a lot of code in place.  Dan added that feature way back in April.  It calls the normal sequencer load routine so I'm not sure how it would work if you are using a file that doesn't match your rgbeffects file.  Maybe other changes to the program in the last several months broke something that was working.

It always helps to read the manual - RTFM.  You must open a new sequence to get started and then (who knew) you must double click in the right hand column to access the models in the file you are importing from.  Would be nice to see a note that says double click in this column.  Also the manual mentions a Map by Strand/CCR option which does not show up when I tried the import.  Maybe it is specific to the file type being imported.  I would sure like to see that option for XML importing instead of getting a gazillion node references which I do not plan to use.  I am bringing across a whole model at a time, ie. mtree to my MegaRGB.  I don't need to see the 18 strands and aprox 1000 nodes in the map listing.  Could use a map by model option.  Would greatly simplify the mapping and the size of the map file.
