P10 Panel 7x6 (224x96 pixels)
« on: October 12, 2015, 08:52:03 PM »
My P10 panel.  :)

I used 42x P10.
The structure was built using Aluminum 6063 T-Slotted Light Extrusion from Amazon.com
Polycarbonate Sheets came from McMaster.com
Boscoyo parts are a most.

Nice work Robert!  You said only one power supply but how many watts is it?  Seems interesting because I used 2 350w supplies for 20 panels and when I measured current draw and saw how low it was I told everyone on Falcon forum how it was way overkill to use 2 supplies for my 20 panels and people were pouncing on me like I was spreading misinformation....lol.

I have a 5V 60A power supply. 300W
It needs 10.5A per 8x P10 in full white.
When sequencing I don't have any 100% white, it would be way to bright.
But I will add a 2nd power supply for Christmas. Just in case :-)

Most awesome job on that enclosure.  Any idea of the weight after completion?

Thanks Randy, I am not sure how heavy is it, but is way more than I wanted it to be. Over 150lb easy.

Thanks

My panel is setting outside since Oct 1st. We have had very strong rain, also we reached 25F or so.
On my next panel it will be narrow, doesn't have to be so deep. Also I would add 1 extra power supply.
Just one thing to keep in mind, is not easy to find a Polycarbonate sheet bigger than 8x4ft. so the 7x7 P10 is the maximum you can go.

I appreciate the tip. Really nice to see how you showed your work and added the notes. In your free time you could put together a Robo enclosure manual.   8)

I like this design, especially using the aluminum frame.  Anyway you could update your pdf with the material list and the URLs.  That would help me and others if we decide to go this route.  Excellent work.

Beyond beautiful case but I'm almost afraid to ask what the materials cost to build.

Here is the complete list. Is not exactly what I used, but if I had to do it again, I would replace all the aluminum bars with Boscoyo T's.

I have to say I wish I had not put the numbers together :-(

I was throwing around the idea of using clear vinyl for the front.  I wan't to build a matrix over 4ft wide, so getting lexan or even plexiglass is just too much.  I found reasonable prices, but shipping, which is freight, is almost $500.

Here is an example: https://www.onlinefabricstore.net/40-gauge-clear-vinyl-.htm?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=Google+-+PLA+-+Shopping&utm_term=pla&utm_content=xobJDL9pdc|pcrid|57080269693|pkw|pla|pmt|e|&gclid=CP-EuqKfoMoCFdM8gQodhdEIZQ

Would like to get your thoughts, or better yet, what would be an alternative for waterproofing the P10 panels when the matrix is large.
