Rendering
« on: October 23, 2015, 01:24:56 PM »
I have made some changes by adding more models to the sequence, but when I go to play it nothing pays.
Tried to render all icons go ghost. The only way to play anything is in play model view. Have restored backups all the way back to 4.2.13 still nothing. Any ideas on what causes this.

Delete the .fseq file and render the sequence again to see if that helps.

I take it that this is happening on any sequence.
make a new sequence with only a few effects and maybe only 1 or 2 models and see if you can get it to save, render and play

I have done a new sequence with just one model and about four effects. The same thing happens, once I either push the render icon than it goes ghost. The only way to get it to render half the time is close the program, some times it will not close down. I have installed xlights from my pc and reisntalled it with the same results. There is no fseg file created when it was safed.

The icons grey out while it's rendering.  How long have you waited?  I've seen some sequences on average PC's take over 10 minutes.

Yes there is text at the end of the megatree. OS win 7. I have MegaTree, Mega Star, all works fine I add the arches it does not get past 30 sec before it goes ghost when saving. The only way I have gotten this far is to save after each effect, at this rate it will be next christmas before I get anything done.

The icons are supposed to ghost out while saving.  You didn't answer...what's the longest you've waited?  They "un-ghost" when the render/save completes.

Something is not right. Get rid of the text and replace it with something else just for testing. Look thru your sequence and make sure you don't have any text icons. My Computer is 3 year old and is running fseq files that are 98,000 KB and xml files that are 60,000 KB and will only go non responsive for about 5 min. The only time I had a real issue and the computer would freeze up completely was when I had multi text effects that I was unaware of and some how they were adding to the problem. I am running multi text effect now in multi sequences and have no problem.

Give the guys your computer make and model, specs i5, i7, ramm and cpu gh and what else are you doing with the computer. I am not a computer guy I just play one on the internet! 8)

This advice is not just for you but for everyone.  The best chance for someone to help is just immediately post your sequence xml file, xlights_rgbeffects.xml, and xlights_networks.xml files when you first post about a problem.  Otherwise we all just sit here guessing unless the problem is obvious.  And I also recommend people don't try to send things directly to me.  We have a whole team of people that can help.  When you post developers will pick the issues they believe they can help with.
