Garage Door Openers not functioning...

Does anybody else have trouble with their garage door openers once their controllers/lights are out?  This is only my second year and again we are having trouble with our garage door openers now that our lights/controllers are out.

I remember hearing about several people having garage door opener issues a couple years ago.  Not sure what was causing it.  Do you run any wireless controllers using XBEE or anything like that?

No XBEE and I had the same issue last year when I ran all wired with Pixlite boards.  Yes, this year I am running 4 PIs wireless but it's just the sync packet going over the home wireless network (minimal traffic).  Did get a response on FB about how LEDs create a power field that is probably doing it.  O well.

In the years before I was using controllers and sequencing lights and just had leds all over the house and back garden NOT connected to networks etc, we used to lose internet while the lights were turned on and it would come back when they were turned off. Strangely doesn't happen now (maybe our internet is better) but certainly there was something about leds that seems to be able to screw with things.

This will be my third year running synchronized displays (ok well last year was mostly a bust...) and I don't remember us having any problems with our garage door opener.

Yeah I'm not sure I buy the power field theory.  I haven't done the math in several decades but I'm pretty sure the electrical field drops off quite rapidly.  Most garage door openers would be at least 10 feet from the front of the garage where all the LEDS are mounted.

Do you have a hard wired button on the wall and does it work any better?  Is it only the remotes?

I do have problems with my gate and my garage door openers when the show is running full force.
I was not using wireless DMX (DLA TX) at this time... nor was I using wireless for FPP communication.

I've been using copper exclusively (DMX, IP, and Pixelnet) all around the gate and up to the house.

But I have no doubt that something is interfering with the gates/doors.

Well again I'm not hearing any details about whether the "problems" are only with the remote control buttons or not.  No wonder nobody ever solves anything.

My problem is with outdoor mount keypad. It is Wireless, like my car remote.  Neither work while my Edimax bridge is running in the garage (about 10ft from the opener). The wired button is unaffected.

Yeah that's what I was expecting.  So it looks like most garage door openers operate on 310, 315, or 390 MHz.  I don't doubt something with the lights or boards is affecting it.  I'm really curious what could cause RF interference.  What about FM transmitters are they shut off when this happens?

Yes.  Hadn't even plugged in FM transmitter yet this season when openers started failing.

Thought I'd add my observations:
For the past  month I've been running 24/7 9 E1.31 wired controllers, and 3 LOR controllers without any issues with the garage door openers, IN my garage! I've got 2 wireless external garage door wireless controllers 5' away from the lights etc.  no issues. I run my FM Xmitter without any issues.  The last week or so I've been using my Pi to controller the lights w/out any garage door issues.  (I use a WIFI connection with the Pi.)

It may be very dependent on the "brand" of garage door opener. Mine is a 20 year old Genie brand. The security coding consists of 4 DIP switches. Since it pre-dates Home WiFi, it was probably never designed to co-exist.

All will be good after Christmas. Just one more sacrifice.

The controllers are very noisy and if you provide the correct protection for them by the use of properly designed cases this problem would not exist. UL approval goes a long way towards doing this.
